The story of Albert Einstein meeting Charlie Chaplin is gold.

So, in 1930, Albert Einstein and his wife Elsa visited the US. It was a mini-tour of the country and Albert was slated to give a lecture at the California Institute of Technology.

While on the trip, the Nobel-winning icon met the head of Universal Studios. Einstein — one of the world’s most famous people — had one request: he wanted to meet Charlie Chaplin.

A meeting was arranged at the Universal Studios lot. And the two became fast friends (including a dinner at Chaplin’s house a few days later).

Not long after this initial hangout, Chaplin invited the famed physicist to the premier of his classic 1931 film “City Lights”.

The photo below is at the film’s premiere. And according to the Nobel Prize Organization, the two icons shared an incredible exchange.

Einstein told Chaplin, “What I most admire about your art is your universality. You don’t say a word yet the world understands you.”

Chaplin replied, “True, But your glory is even greater! The whole world admires you, even though they don’t understand a word of what you say.”
