Here is a seven-month-old Farrokh Bulsara—years before the world would know him as Freddie Mercury—posing for a studio portrait in early 1947. The photo was taken at Capital Art Studio on Shangani Street, right in the heart of Stone Town on the island of Zanzibar where he spent his early childhood. The local photographer thought the shot turned out so perfectly that he put it on display right in his front shop window, and the image actually went on to win a local photography prize!
