I was just talking to a Vietnamese woman who was telling me how bizarre it is to see people here praising socialism, or delusional enough to think that there’s anything good about it. She said in Vietnam, you have to pay to get a job and then after a trial period will be hired. You’ll work for a few months and then get fired so they can get someone else to pay for employment. She said it is crazy, people don’t have enough food and everything is corrupt. She doesn’t understand why no one talks about these things here, but I think we know why. Media controls narratives and it’s not in their interest to remind people of all the abject failures of communism.
