On a clubhouse call and there was m, I think, a false dichotomy posed: would you rather 1) trust philanthropy to do good in the world or 2) trust gov’t to do good. My answer is neither. You trust the communities that both philanthropy and government purport to “serve.”

And, I will say, after hearing from Gates Scholar @abran , that this will also require bold funders and bold fundraising strategies. Private equity and traditional funders (Gates Fdn incl.) will not pay to change public leadership. Because why pay to disempower yourself?
