the egypt and argentina rigged controversy got me thinking whether football should approach VAR usage like challenges in Badminton, allow teams to call for a VAR a limited number of times.
its consistent and more fair this way no?
Fair warning to anyone entering esports on the backend/broadcast side of things. In recent years and especially 2026, companies at the top are cutting costs to below poverty wages for admins and staff. Esports is on a downwards trend and AI is not helping. Even tier 1 casters in certain titles are having to quit their dream job of full time casting to focus on other avenues to make money when they used to easily make more than enough to support a family. The number of shows in general and third party events is paltry in comparison to just 2 years ago and still in free fall. Expect a lot more esports retirement announcements this year as esports collectively struggles towards sustainability when the big wigs push to cut costs rather than their own salaries.
