Apart from the text of the prayers, the mass of St. Thomas Aquinas would look quite different from that of St. Thomas Moore. The elevation of the host, for instance, only developed by the end of the 13th century while praying the Roman Canon in a low tone (and the widespread adoption of low masses in general) only developed after the Black Death.

And all of these saints would be horrified to walk into a modern TLM, wondering where the Rood Screen is, why the faithful are sitting in pews instead of standing, why the sexes are intermingled instead of segregated, why the women are wearing mantillas instead of proper solid veils, why vernacular missals (prohibited until Leo XIII) are being used instead of a mediatory aid like the rosary; and a plethora of other differences (frequent communion, anyone?)

This is not to gloss over the many (many) issues of the Novus Ordo Missae, but pretending that the post-Tridentine liturgy is simply identical to the pre-Tridentine (let alone the post-Tridentine liturgy as it had developed by the mid-20th century) is absurd.

But why stop at the second millenia? St. Augustine would scarcely recognise the post-Gregorian Roman Rite (let alone 1962 missal) and would (by all accounts) find ecclesiastical latin a vulgar tongue entirely unfit for liturgical use, preferring instead the latin of Cicero. Its entirely possible he would feel *more* at home at a novus ordo celebrated in a traditional manner and in classical latin, or more at home attending the liturgy of Port-Royale before its tragic destruction; but in truth I think any currently existing liturgy would be unrecognisable to him, barring some vagrant priest celebrating from the Gelasian sacramentary somewhere in the wild west of the Ultrajectines and Anglo-Caths.

My point being, this is a stupid argument that betrays a shocking level of ignorance regarding the history of the liturgy prior to the 16th century. But by all means, continue thinking that the liturgy of the Apostolic Constitutions or the Gelasian sacramentary are completely identical to that of St. John XIII(XIV).
