Today's blog reads like a greatest hits album discussing sudden stratospheric warmings, stretched #polarvortex, Greenland & Alaskan blocking, negative AO & NAO #cold & #snow all in the coming weeks. Blog is now available for those that want an early look: https://t.co/WqtIEhQkCt
Is individual climate action pointless? Not at all, a new study out by PIK and @MCC_Berlin scientists shows. Sure, big #industry and #politics must also do their share. But the "demand-side", meaning we as consumers, citizens, people, can also make a #change when acting together.
We had a great conversation with Prof. Shelie Miller about life cycle assessments and how those can give sometimes unexpected insights into how (not)#sustainable our consumer decisions are

Let the games begin! The first robust transfer of energy from the troposphere to the stratosphere will result in the first disruption of the #PolarVortex of the season next week. Foreshadowing the #winter ahead or a head fake?
Strong ridging/high pressure parked over eastern North America has made for a relatively #warm month of September for much of Canada and the US outside of Alaska. Model forecasts are predicting more of the same for October.
Violent clashes are reported from the border between #Tajikistan & #Kyrgyzstan. @JRheinbay @Seb_Mayer_@stefaniewesch & @KiraVinke explain on the PeaceLab blog how in a region severely affected by climate impacts on water availability, conflict can loom 👇
Check out the amazing work @bijan_berlin and @n_ost did in the frames of the Green Central Asia Project for Central Asian journalists: webinar on climate modeling is online и с русскими субтитрами :)
