A man renovating a home discovers a note that was left behind in 1975.

Carpenter Dakota Mohn went viral after discovering a handwritten message hidden inside the wall of a historic home he was renovating in Green Valley, Illinois. While removing sections of a fire-damaged living room wall in the 150-year-old house, Mohn found an inscription written on the wooden framework that read, “Note 9/29/1975,” with arrows pointing toward a small hidden notch.

Inside the secret compartment was a bottle containing a carefully preserved two-page letter written nearly 50 years earlier. The note was created by Stephanie Herron, who was only 14 years old when she tucked it away as a personal time capsule. She described her daily life, including her father’s occupation, neighbors, the fact that Gerald Ford was president, and her mother’s pregnancy.

After Mohn shared the discovery online, the story helped reconnect him with the letter’s original author, now Stephanie Poit. She was surprised to see the message again after decades of having forgotten about the note she had left behind, creating a remarkable connection between past and present generations.

Tesco have announced they will close over 2,000 stores early if England reach the World Cup final - to allow staff members to leave in time for kick-off 🙌

All Tesco Express stores across England will close at 7.30pm on Sunday, July 19. Instead of the usual 10pm or 11pm closure, this revision will allow employees to get home or to the pub in time for kick off at 8pm. Tesco clarified that all staff members will still receive their normal pay for those hours 😍💪

Kevin Tindall, Tesco’s managing director UK operations, said the company can “appreciate just how much this would mean to so many of our colleagues. If England makes it through to the final, we will close our Express stores across England in time for all colleagues to be able to celebrate with their family and friends." 👏🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
