Honored our paper, “Comparisons of FDHI fault displacement models for principal & aggregate displacement,” was selected as Editor’s Choice in @EERI_org Earthquake Spectra (Nov 2025)!

(1 of 2) The UCLA Natural Hazards Risk and Resiliency Research Center (NHR3) and its partners are holding an online workshop series to present new Fault Displacement Models developed through the Fault Displacement Hazard Initiative (FDHI) Project.
Is there a publicly available repository for surface rupture maps and field-based fault displ measurements for the February Turkey earthquakes? Prelim data is okay, goal is to roughly see how data compare with new fault displ models. Thx in advance
I am frustrated at the way we all jump to the conclusion that the problems in Turkey are all their mistakes and aren't willing to looking at the shortcomings we all share. https://t.co/FX9OMDO4og
@timblor Every time I’m at the outdoor section of my local Lowe’s and Home Depot (about 10km from SJF & Elsinore; and maybe 14 to SAF), I look up at all the pallets hanging off the edge of the shelves and am horrified.
@DrWendyRocks Maybe also something about planning/safety—assuming you can just call/text family isn’t a given because cell towers can be damaged or overloaded
@DrWendyRocks Another vote for, “lots of little ones are good, it’s like a pressure relief valve.” This is going to be cool and hugely popular, can’t wait to see the series!
UCLA NHR3 will host a no cost online workshop on Thursday, February 23 from 10:00 am to 11:30 pm (PT). Please register at: https://t.co/5smqXWeSuN. @SilviaMazzoni_
👀UCLA is hosting a virtual workshop on *THURS NOV 10TH 9AM-12PM* to present a set of new fault displacement models. Participation is free, but registration is required to get the magic Zoom link. Please sign up at https://t.co/NECh6kyKhD and let your colleagues know!
@Baker_Jack_W I’m sure you have no idea who I am, but I think you are one of the best technical writers in seismic hazard and I aspire to write as well as you. Thanks for the blogs you have posted on writing tips—they are great and I refer back to them regularly!
@Baker_Jack_W That is absurd—not only are the comments vague & uninformative, but the implication that the paper lacks clarity, conciseness, and organization is hard to believe given your pubs that I’ve read.
Is anyone else trying to submit their update abstract/manuscript for 12NCEE & getting a blank page in the submission portal? Been trying for a few days, multiple browsers, no luck @EERI_tweets
