here’s my beginner's stack for launching a project in 2024:
3. PostgreSQL Database:
- Structured and relational: ideal for beginners seeking a clear and organized approach to data management.
- Essential guardrails: prevents schema chaos, which is more likely with less structured databases like MongoDB.
- SQL proficiency: a versatile and powerful skill, highly transferable across industries, making you a valuable asset in any data-driven role.
Teach.
Teach your skills
Teach your audience
Teach while building
The information gaps you uncover are the keys to solutions people crave.
Have you experienced this?
You're building a terrible product.
If you don't market it.
As you build REMEMBER:
Even a great product will fail if you cant get it in front of the right people.
When the right people see it REMEMBER:
People seek cures for their current pain, not preventatives for potential issues.
The Adweek Copywriting Handbook sums it up well:
"These two situations illustrate two general principles.
The first: It is human nature to think you’re never going to get the disease or affliction that the preventive can prevent, so it becomes a very tough sell.
The second: If you do get the disease or affliction, you’re willing to pay a whole lot more for the cure than you were for the preventive and it’s easier to sell."
How do you market?
If you want to fail
Then fail to set a goal.
Your goal/purpose is your GPS coordinates.
You can't see your destination, but you trust it exists because its in your GPS.
To build successfully, you need a goal to stay on track and make the right turns toward your destination.
The AI advantage:
It is TERRIBLE at creative work.
but it can "think of" - try and iterate on a 1000 ideas before you can try one.
How do you use this leverage?
99% are just watching.
Once you understand the split between creators and consumers, the social media haze lifts like magic.
How has this revelation changed your life?
"Retirement will be great"
But what if you don't make it? Or the market delays your plans by 10 years? (like this week)
Instead of waiting 40 years, why not aim to create wealth in 5 and enjoy life while you're young?
Build In Public is the Answer! Keep at it!
