I don't know how to tweet this, but when I was little and a new immigrant to the country, my parents used to always say "oh look, an Indian!" when we were in a store. It confused me so much and I was RUTHLESS in making fun of them for it.

I'm now doing the same when I get an email with a South Asian name. When I have clients who are South Asian. When I see people like @neeratanden in front of the Senate. "Look, an Indian!" I think, excitedly, knowing there's someone who sort of maybe understands me to my core.
