Joy Kinya Barongo was 16. Killed in Mukuru kwa njenga. Her killer, her step dad. Raped her then stabbed her on a Sunday morning after she dressed up for church . Rebecca Cheptegei was doused in petrol and set on fire. In her house. She as an olympian. Gladys thaara was killed in Embu. Her husband started acting weird to a point where even his own family reported to the authorities. Yet no action was taken. If you look at statistics, the women who are killed by strangers especially when 'morality' is involved are a very small percentage. Most are killed by spouses, family members and former or current sexual partners.
Happy International Women's day!!! I have published an article on LinkedIn sharing on reflections 30 years after the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action! Read more:

If presidential election petitions can be heard and determined in 14 days why is it that cases of Violence Against women & girls which are of criminal nature take years!? Is the Judicial system to blame?
Sharon Otieno and her unborn child were murdered in 2018. Today, almost 7 years later the accused have been found to have a case to answer. 7 years! We have to be serious about criminal justice in Kenya. Cases take too long to be determined in Kenya
Religion constantly being used to perpetrate Violence Against Girls and Women is diabolical!
Begs the question: To whose benefit is it that a child's life is jeopardy?
BREAKING:

This is in memory of all the women we have lost to femicide in 2024, This is just a fraction and a representation of the victims of Femicide.
But to us, each face, each name is a reason and representation of why the fight against Femicide must continue.
