On this day in 1947, After more than 50 years of segregation, Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier with his Major League Baseball debut.
Decades earlier, In the 1880s Moses Fleetwood Walker played major league baseball. Objections were raised by players and managers thus a "color line" was drawn barring black players from the major leagues.
