Although the Pretoria Peace Agreement has brought many benefits, there are forces that have become dissatisfied, questioning why the agreement was accepted. Beyond the TPLF, there are actors who believe that destruction in Tigray should have continued; these groups have distanced themselves from us in disagreement, while there have also been attempts among them to cooperate with one another.
Currently, forces in Tigray are carrying out daily provocations that could trigger new conflicts and renewed war. The most painful and concerning issue, however, is that many Tigrayan youths are reportedly being forcibly recruited and sent to fight in the ongoing war in Sudan. These young people are losing their lives in a conflict they neither understand nor have any connection to. The problems within Ethiopia were not enough; the issue has now extended into Sudan as well.
Throughout this process, the people of Tigray are not the creators of the problem but rather the ones bearing its consequences. What has harmed the people of Tigray most and deepened their suffering is the presence of an unseen internal wound, one that is not easily healed. In reality, today there are more people of Tigrayan origin living peacefully and moving freely without fear in places such as Dessie, Gondar, Addis Ababa, and Adama than those living in Tigray itself."

"Ethiopiaโs industrial sector is undergoing significant transformation. Extensive studies and support initiatives have been carried out to increase overall manufacturing capacity from 47% to 67%. This growth has been supported by the construction of ten new industrial parks in addition to the existing Kombolcha, Mekelle, and Hawassa industrial parks, enabling the country to attract more than 80% of foreign direct investment. In addition, an import substitution strategy has been implemented. Through the domestic production of products such as cement, steel, glass, and ceramics, Ethiopia has been able to save nearly 5 billion US dollars in foreign currency. With the sectorโs rapid growth, increases have been recorded in mining (24%), manufacturing (20.3%), and energy (23%). Looking ahead, efforts are focused on sustaining this achievement, with plans to achieve 12.7% growth in industrial parks alone next year and generate 1 billion US dollars in export revenue from industrial products."

"In this production season, cultivating 29 million hectares of land and harvesting 1.3 billion quintals of produce, along with the sector recording 7.7% growth, clearly demonstrates the structural transformation taking place in Ethiopiaโs agriculture. The nationwide โBounty of the Basketโ program has achieved remarkable results, particularly with Ethiopia becoming the second-largest avocado exporter in Africa, generating significant additional income for the country and marking a major achievement. Furthermore, the fact that the Borena region, which had long suffered from severe drought, is now covered by extensive wheat cultivation demonstrates the success of our strategic agricultural efforts. Despite increasing global pressures and rising fertiliser and fuel prices, we are working with determination and hard work to achieve food self-sufficiency and change Africaโs narrative of hunger. This is because our choice is not to live by begging, but to live by working and producing."

"At a time when the world is undergoing undeniable changes, we are pursuing three key principles based on strategic self-reliance to safeguard Ethiopiaโs national interests, foreign policy, and sovereignty. The first is resilience, which focuses on building strong institutional capacity that enables us to withstand external pressures through our own capabilities. The second is leveraging opportunities, which involves the ability to transform any challenge we face into a strategic and positive development opportunity. The third is shaping our path, which enables the country to formulate its own national agenda and confidently engage with and influence global affairs. Guided by these three pillars, we will not allow any external actor to interfere in any of our national decisions."

"Significant improvements are being made through efforts to ensure quality in the education sector. In recent years, a system has been implemented in which students take examinations based on their own abilities, helping to eliminate a culture of cheating. If education is not strengthened from the foundation, progress at higher levels will not be effective. With a focus on expanding early childhood education, 35,000 kindergartens have been built. Efforts being made to ensure education quality, eliminate cheating, and expand access to education through technology are showing promising results. In addition, the construction of well-equipped and modern primary and secondary schools is underway."

"We have increased our domestic medicine production capacity from 4% to 44%. We have spent 70 billion birr on the purchase of medicines and more than 60 billion birr on medical equipment. In recent months, we have inaugurated and put several hospitals into service, with additional facilities expected to be completed in the coming months. Among the projects given priority is the new building of St. Paulโs Hospital, which has increased its bed capacity by 1,000. Medicines produced domestically have also been manufactured to meet international standards and gain global acceptance. Our next focus is to build modern, high-standard hospitals in Ethiopia comparable to those seen in other countries. On the other hand, through coordinated efforts to reduce malaria, 14 million insecticide-treated bed nets have been distributed, and anti-malaria chemicals have been sprayed in 3 million homes. In addition, vaccination services have been provided for the first time in 58 districts where access to vaccines had previously been unavailable."

"To ensure Ethiopiaโs prosperity and sovereignty, the country has designed and begun implementing strategies to modernize and transform its economic structure. The Homegrown Economic Reform, which prioritizes modernizing agriculture through technology, expanding tourism, ensuring food security, and increasing foreign exchange earnings, has brought structural changes by controlling inflation and strengthening the private sector. This economic transformation is demonstrating in practice the principles of withstanding global pressures, turning challenges into opportunities, and safeguarding national interests."

"The Pretoria Agreement should be seen not merely as an ordinary negotiation process, but as a major peace initiative that produced tangible results. Above all, it was a forum where the victorious and defeated sides sat together as equals for dialogue. After securing military superiority, the government not only negotiated and signed an agreement with the defeated side, but also demonstrated its commitment to peace by supporting armed forces that had been in difficult circumstances. For those who ask what the agreement achieved, the establishment of the Interim Administration in the Tigray Region can be cited as a major success. In addition, no fewer than 60,000 combatants received DDR (Disarmament, Demobilization, and Reintegration) benefits and were demobilized, while many prisoners and detainees were also released."

"We must seize this broad national opportunity to move beyond past cycles of accusation and engage in constructive dialogue. We will preserve the Constitution's positive values while amending provisions that require reform in a way that harms no one, respects everyone's rights, and strengthens our unity. The key point is that this dialogue is not merely about correcting the mistakes of a temporary ruling party. Rather, it is about resolving the deep-rooted national challenges that have accumulated over generations and forging a new social contract for a new Ethiopia. This dialogue, through discussion, consultation, and mutual trust, is the only way to provide a lasting answer to the historic question of how we can live together."

The only way to defeat armed groups and extremists is through strengthened dialogue."

"This year's election was a historic event that demonstrated the Ethiopian people's deep sense of responsibility and commitment to peace. Unlike previous elections, the election itself became the target of sustained attacks rather than simply a contest between rival parties. Nevertheless, Ethiopians successfully held the election, sending a nationwide message rejecting extremism and ethnic hatred. Furthermore, by contesting 85% of the seats and leaving the remainder to opposition parties, the Prosperity Party demonstrated a remarkable commitment to democracy."

"Ethiopia is a country built on shared values and institutions, not one that should be torn apart by conflict. The fact that the beliefs followed by the majority of Ethiopians share commonalities and serve as symbols of peace, as well as their history of living together, is evidence of this. Current conflicts are not religious or ethnic in nature; rather, they are instigated by destabilizing actors to conceal political and economic interests. Therefore, to sustainably strengthen the country, the people must stand against hate campaigns and, in a civilized manner, respect and support institutions that safeguard the nation's existence, such as the National Defense Force."
