Acclaimed novelist @SalmanRushdie to the German tabloid @BILD:
“If there was a Palestinian state, it would be run by Hamas, and that would make it a Taliban like state. …and it would be a client state of Iran. Is that what the progressive movement of the western left wants to create?”
Heartbreaking and painful... Two Palestinian brothers from the Abu Taima family are suffering - their bodies ravaged by illness and malnutrition.💔
Their story is a cry for help from Gaza, a reminder of the human cost behind the headlines.

@MariamBarghouti This was never about “hostages” or Hamas; it has always been about the destruction of an indigenous people in order to colonize their land — the same thing that has been happening for 77 years.
Psychopathic Israeli minister Ben-Gvir hands out sweets after Israeli Knesset approves first reading of new bill legalizing the execution of Palestinian detainees.
Palestinian detainees are already being killed at alarming rates, this bill opens the way for a wave of mass executions of Palestinians who already don’t get fair trials and are often held in Israeli prisons as hostages, without trial or charge.
@amitavakumar I just read your story 'Pyre' published in Granta with other beautiful pieces. Pyre is one of my favourites. Now, looking forward to reading this one.
@harikunzru I just finished your story 'Drone' in Granta magazine. And I just want to say that it was extraordinary. Now, I am looking forward to reading your longer work.
@murtazamohsin4 I think the problem is the lack of transparency at both sides. Talks and agendas have been translucent from the start, and now as I am seeing the news things have become opaque. I think our media is the worst.
Very insightful article by @DalrympleWill. As an #Indian I know of the works of Brahmagupta & Aryabhatta, but this article goes way beyond. It puts their achievements in historical context & discusses how Indian scholarship shaped much of the modern world. https://t.co/lLbJ2TcBZ9
In the small city of Mehranpur, the Nawab suspects there may be a connection between the slow wasting of a beloved tree & the fate of the city itself.
@Jerun_onto's story, "The Gulmohar of Mehranpur," is now available on @reactormag!
