On June 15, a young man named Kartik from Nalasopara was allegedly lured to Santacruz by four individuals. It is alleged that he was forcibly administered an intoxicating substance, his family was demanded to pay ₹50,000, and an attempt was made on his life. The victim was also allegedly subjected to inhumane treatment and forced to endure acts that insulted his religious beliefs.

According to his family, there are video recordings and other evidence related to the incident. Despite a complaint being filed, they claim that no strict action has been taken so far. Kartik has reportedly been admitted to the ICU for the past four days. The family is demanding a fair and thorough investigation, the application of appropriate legal charges, and strict action against those found responsible.

A farmer named Santosh Shingare from Maharashtra took 602 kg of onions to a mandi hoping to earn money for his tractor EMI.

Reality?

• Onion price: ₹0.50/kg
• Total sale value: ₹301

But:

Transport + labour + market charges: ₹1,383

So instead of earning money, he had to pay ₹1,082 from his own pocket.

Meanwhile, consumers often buy onions at ₹40/kg, and during shortages prices can shoot up to ₹70–80/kg.

The farmer got 50 paise/kg.
The customer pays ₹40–80/kg.

This is the condition of our "Annadata" — the people who feed the nation.
