The day isn’t far when you will walk free, vindicated, unbowed, and victorious! But till then, know this without doubt: you are not alone, not for a moment. We, your family and tens and thousands of your supporters stand right beside you, as your unwavering pillars of strength…
This is Aakashi & Shantanu Bhatt,
Dearest Dad,
You turn 62 today … your eight birthday away from us, eight years of absence imposed not by fate, but by deliberate injustice.
Eight years in which we as a family have been living parallel lives, us inside prison walls with you, and you living vicariously through us ... physically separated but all the while connected with one another in heart and spirit, fighting for each other's happiness, being each other’s, strength, suit of armour and never ending resilience.
There are days when words feel inadequate, today is one of those days ... not because there is nothing to say, but because there is far too much. Too much loss carried in silence. Too much waiting that has stretched into injustice. Too much pain born from events that should never have been allowed to unfold. Too much that should never have happened to an upright officer who sacrificed his entire being to fight for justice for the victims of hate and violence.
Over these years, we have watched the slow violence of judicial injustice unfold, not as a single event, but as a continuous process. Trumped up charges created not for truth, but to silence the voice of truth. Procedures stretched until fairness collapsed under their weight. Time itself weaponised against you and against us. Each delay, each denial, each indifference extracting its price, emotionally, mentally and physically.
Despite it all, Dad, you have carried yourself through these years with a quiet dignity and strength that no verdict can diminish. While injustice has tried to define you through numbers, files, and false accusations, you have remained exactly who you always were, principled, brave, and unwavering. Even behind walls meant to confine you, your moral authority and courage have travelled freely, far beyond courtrooms, beyond prisons, beyond the reach of those who tried to bury it.
History will forget these excuse of men, who abused their power to silence your voice of truth, but you, Dad, will always be remembered as a man who chose conscience over comfort, truth over self-preservation, and courage over compliance … the one who stood firm when the cost was unbearable.
As your children, we have not been shaped by weakness or loss. We have been shaped by your example!
We have learned clarity from your clarity. Courage from your courage. And strength not as an act of survival, but as an act of defiance.
Let it be known … Ours is not a family defined by suffering, it is a family defined by resolve!
Every year of injustice, every year of separation, has only sharpened our focus. Every attempt to wear us down has strengthened our determination. We fight not emotionally, but strategically. Not loudly, but relentlessly.
Dad, please know, your sacrifice is not invisible … It is not futile, and it will not go unanswered!
There will come a day when the truth that has been suppressed will stand exposed. When history will ask who abused power, and who paid the price for refusing to surrender their conscience … and you will be remembered, clearly, deliberately, and permanently as a man of integrity who stood for truth when it mattered most.
Today, on your 62nd birthday, silence is no longer an option. While defenders of society were targeted, society looked away. Today, we call on it to wake up … to stand where it once retreated, to speak where it once stayed quiet, and to act for accountability and justice without delay.
The day isn’t far when you will walk free, vindicated, unbowed, and victorious! But till then, know this without doubt: you are not alone, not for a moment. We, your family and tens and thousands of your supporters stand right beside you … as your pillars of strength, unwavering, fearless, and unshakeable!
Dad, you will return home not as someone who quietly endured injustice, but as someone who confronted it, exposed it, and emerged undefeated!
And we promise, you will never be defeated …. Not Now .. Not Ever.
Wishing you a very Happy Birthday, Dad.
We love you to infinity and beyond!
Endlessly proud of you!!
Yours,
Aakashi & Shantanu

For 7 long years, Sanjiv Bhatt has stood alone, fighting quietly, courageously, against the darkest forces of power. He has endured what few of us could, with dignity and unshaken conviction.
It’s time for us to show him that he is not forgotten-That he is not alone in his fight!
This is Shweta Sanjiv Bhatt,
Today marks 7 years … 2555 days since Sanjiv Bhatt, an honest, upright officer, has been languishing in jail — wrongfully incarcerated for having the courage to speak truth to power!
As I sit to pen down this post, I pause to wonder when we, as a nation, lost sight of what truly matters ....When did appeasing the fragile ego of a megalomaniac fascist take precedence over safeguarding the very soul of our country?
Today, brilliant minds, honest souls, and courageous hearts languish in prison ...They are mocked, humiliated, and silenced by a judiciary that was meant to protect them, meant to deliver justice, not serve as a handmaiden to power. And so, we must ask ourselves: where did we, as a people, go wrong? And more hauntingly — is it too late to turn back?
It takes unimaginable courage, resilience, and faith to stand alone against an entire system designed to crush you. Day after day, year after year, these heroes endure indignity, isolation, and suffering — yet refuse to bow down! The nation owes them a debt beyond measure …. And yet, instead of standing with them, we leave them to fight alone.
Today marks seven years of Sanjiv’s unlawful incarceration …. Seven years stolen from a man whose only “crime” was to speak truth to power. Seven years during which the machinery of injustice has worked tirelessly to break his spirit. Seven years in which rapists, murderers, and lynchers walk free, while a man of conscience languishes in jail — his courage the only crime that keeps him there.
As days bleed into weeks, weeks into months, and months into years, the mockery of justice continues. I often wonder, Who is to be held responsible? The totalitarian political duo that pulls the strings? The judiciary that bends its spine to serve power? Or the mute spectators who choose comfort in silence while injustice reigns?
We, as a family have and will continue to fight for justice…. the question is, when will you find your courage to join the fight? When will you rise and say: Enough, is Enough!!
This regime survives on fear. It thrives on cowardice, greed, and silence. But must we remain silent? Must we allow them to believe that we, the people of India, are cowards, spectators, shadows without voices?
The time has come to prove otherwise. The time has come to raise our voice. Stand for the heroes who sacrifice everything — their freedom, their families, their futures — yet walk with heads held high and smiles on their faces!
This regime has tirelessly tried to make every attempt for the world to forget these heroes, but we must not ... We cannot!
For seven long years, Sanjiv Bhatt has stood alone, fighting quietly, courageously, against the darkest forces of power. He has endured what few of us could, with dignity and unshaken conviction.
If there was ever a moment to defend those who defend truth, that moment is now…
If there was ever a time to reclaim the nation’s conscience, that time is now…
If there was ever a chance to prove that India still has brave hearts who will not bow to tyranny — it is now!
It is time for us to show Sanjiv Bhatt that he is not forgotten …That he is not alone in his fight!
The time to fight for justice is now!!

So let them rig the game. Let them twist the law. Let them manufacture silence and dress it up as order.
But they forget—truth is not easily erased ...
It lingers...It waits...And then it roars!
This is Aakashi and Shantanu Bhatt,
Father - A title. A force. A revolution in human form!
They say a father is someone who guides you through life. Ours is someone who taught us how to walk through fire—and never flinch.
Our father, Mr Sanjiv Bhatt, did not just raise us. He raised truth...He raised conscience...He raised integrity.
It is him, from whom we draw our strength and courage to smile in the face of adversity and soldier on. He is our toughest critic, our strongest supporter, the sane voice of reason in our heads, the courage in our hearts, the very soul of our being!
There aren't enough words to describe the pride Shan and I carry in our bones.
But if I had to choose one word to define our father—only one—it would be: Courage.
And what is Courage?
It is the quiet dignity of a man who has spent nearly 7 years in confinement under trumped up charges but still wakes up every day with fire in his eyes and truth in his heart. It is the unshakeable belief in justice, even when every instrument of justice seems to have turned rogue.
It is the unwavering sparkle in my father's eyes when he speaks of a just India, even from within prison walls. It is the strength in his voice as he consoles us when it is he who is being wronged. It is the defiant smile he wears not in spite of adversity, but because of it.
Courage is choosing integrity over safety, choosing truth over comfort, and justice over silence. It is knowing the price of honesty and still daring to pay it—again and again.
They’ve tried to crush him with lies, to bury him under the weight of manufactured charges, to make an example of him so that others may learn to fall in line. But they’ve only succeeded in proving exactly what he stood up against: a system that rewards obedience and punishes conscience.
Fighting a subverted system was never going to be easy. He knew it. We knew it. And yet, we march forward—undaunted. Because when they jail the innocent and let the guilty walk free, it is not just a man in prison. It is democracy itself behind bars.
Each day continues to bring a new fight. Each day we continue to witness new lows this system can fall to... Each day we see honesty and integrity erode, leaving behind subservient, spineless, hollow men, ever ready to bend at the will of their political masters.
So let them rig the game. Let them twist the law. Let them manufacture silence and dress it up as order.
But they forget—truth is not easily erased ...
It lingers...It waits...And then it roars!
Dad - I wish I could say this to you in person... Thank you, for filling our eyes with dreams, hearts with courage and equipping our minds to achieve the unachievable!
You were, are, and will forever continue to be our hero, our role model!!
Your courage and strength inspire us and tens and thousands of people across the world to stand up for truth and justice and to bravely soldier on ... to fight till the finish.
These dark times will pass ... your sacrifice, courage and honesty will not go in vain!
We may be separated today, but the day isn’t far when we will celebrate together again, in the warmth of our home. We will not rest until you are free, and justice is truly delivered!
On this day, Dad, Shan and I wish you a very Happy Father’s Day!!
Words cannot truly do justice to how proud we are of you...
We love you more than you can ever imagine!!
Yours,
Aakashi & Shantanu

Zakia Jafri Ji was more than a symbol of resilience—she was a force of truth, carrying the weight of unspeakable loss with grace and courage. Her strength will forever inspire those who refuse to forget. Rest in power, Zakia Ji. #ZakiaJafri
Zakia Jafri Ji was an unshakable voice of truth against power. For decades, she fought not just for justice, but for truth, dignity and the very soul of our democracy. Her strength in the face of unimaginable loss will forever inspire us.
Today, India has lost a true warrior, but her courage will live on!
Rest in power, Zakia Ji!!
Our hearts go out to Nishrin, Tanveer & their family #ZakiaJafri
Happy Birthday, Dad. We love you more than words can ever express. You are our strength, inspiration, and our guiding light. The day isn’t far when we will celebrate together again, in the warmth of our home. We will not rest until you are free, and justice is truly delivered!
This is Aakashi Sanjiv Bhatt,
Today marks our father, Mr. Sanjiv Bhatt’s 61st birthday—his sixth spent behind bars, away from us. For over six years, he has been unjustly incarcerated, targeted for his unwavering commitment to truth, justice, and the ideals he holds sacred. These have been six long years of resilience, longing, courage, and an unyielding fight for what is right.
Birthdays in our home were always special. They weren’t just about cakes or gifts—they were about togetherness, laughter, and love. Our home would be filled with warmth and joy, with Dad’s voice booming as he celebrated with family and friends. But for the past six years, our home and hearts have been filled with a deafening silence, an emptiness that words cannot truly describe.
Amidst this dark, uphill battle, there was a glimmer of hope—a fleeting moment of relief. On December 7, 2024, a sessions court acquitted our father, Mr Sanjiv Bhatt in one of the fabricated cases designed by this vindictive regime to silence him. It was a small but significant victory – it was a moment of vindication, a reminder that truth, no matter how suppressed, has a way of breaking through. Yet the war is far from over. The truth our father stands for still remains buried under the weight of lies and subversion, and his freedom still eludes him. Our father, Mr. Sanjiv Bhatt, still remains cruelly imprisoned by a regime bent on breaking him, breaking us, and breaking the very soul of justice in this country.
For over two decades, our father has endured unimaginable persecution. His only “crime”? Speaking truth to power. Daring to expose injustice. Standing tall when others chose to bow. In a nation where the judiciary is crippled by its loyalty to this totalitarian regime, the fight ahead seems daunting and perilous; however, our fight for freedom, dignity, and justice continues and through it all, our father remains steadfast in his resolve: unbroken, unbent, and unbowed.
Dad – On this day, I just want you to know that you have and will always continue to been our hero! Your strength, courage, and unwavering sense of justice are the very foundation of everything Shan and I believe in. You’ve taught us that no matter how dark the night, we must keep walking toward the light. You’ve led by example, teaching us to stand tall, to raise our voices against injustice, and to never back down in the face of adversity. You dedicated your life to truth and justice, serving this nation and its citizens at great personal and professional cost. I hope you know that you have always been our greatest source of strength! Your courage inspires us every single day, showing us what it truly means to live with dignity and purpose. You remind us that the fight for truth is never in vain, even when the odds seem insurmountable.
Dad, we miss you terribly! Every day, we long for your voice, your wisdom, your love, and your warmth. Even though you are physically far from us, your presence is felt in everything we do.
Today, especially, I wish we could hug you, hear your laughter, and tell you in person how very proud we are to be your family!!
Happy Birthday, Papa!!
We love you more than words can ever express. You are our strength, our inspiration, and our guiding light!
The day isn’t far when we will celebrate together again, in the warmth of our home. We will not rest until you are free, and justice is truly delivered!

A day will come, when justice triumphs over oppression, when the voices of the brave are not silenced but celebrated, when my father, Mr Sanjiv Bhatt and others like him walk free.
That day, justice will return from exile … That day, light will truly triumph over darkness!
This is Shweta Sanjiv Bhatt,
As we gather today to celebrate Diwali, the symbolic triumph of light over darkness, let us pause and ask ourselves: Has good truly triumphed over evil?
As we light our lamps for truth and justice, there are those left in darkness—not by fate, but by injustice.
Brave souls like Sanjiv Bhatt and many others mark yet another Diwali in confinement, away from their loved ones, separated by walls of repression, condemned for the courage to stand up for what is right.
This is Sanjiv’s sixth Diwali behind bars. Six years of darkness for the "crime" of defending the truth. Six years away from his family, his home, fighting a battle he knew was worth every sacrifice—the battle for truth and justice.
Let us remember, Diwali is not just about lighting lamps. It's about keeping the flame alive—the flame of courage, integrity, and righteousness.
A day will come, our true Diwali, when justice triumphs over oppression, when the voices of the brave are not silenced but celebrated, and when those who stood resolute against cruelty walk free!
Our true Diwali, too, will come the day Sanjiv and others like him walk free, when truth finally prevails over the shadows of oppression ..... when Sanjiv returns to the warmth of his home.
That day, justice will return from exile … That day, light will truly triumph over darkness!
Until then, may we never be content with the mere symbolism of good triumphing over evil.
Let us not forget those who stand alone in the face of power …. Let us not celebrate a triumph that’s incomplete!
This Diwali, may we find the courage to carry that light forward—to stand by those who stand for us, unwavering, unafraid!
Because Diwali is more than a festive day …..
It’s a promise— a promise of a world where light truly conquers darkness, and where every brave soul who fought for truth finds their way back home!
Our battle for justice continues ...

It is really sad. Sanjiv Bhatt @sanjivbhatt has been wrongly framed by @BJP4India Govt for a crime he never committed. I haven’t understood, Hon Judiciary when they claim “Bail is a Rule Jail is an exception” then why is he being denied bail? We stand with Sanjiv Shweta and family. We demand @narendramodi@PMOIndia please don’t stoop to such level of vindictiveness. @INCIndia@RahulGandhi
This is Shweta Sanjiv Bhatt,
Today marks 2193 days since Sanjiv Bhatt has been languishing in Jail for a crime he did not commit.
September 5, 2018—a day forever seared in our memory as the day Sanjiv Bhatt was unjustly torn from us. Today marks 6 years of his wrongful incarceration by a regime so terrified of his truth that it continues to resort to extreme, oppressive measures to crush his spirit and silence him, all because he dared to stand up against this dictatorial regime.
Every day we continue to fight for justice and every day, this regime stoops to unimaginable lows in its effort to silence Sanjiv once and for all. A new dangerous chapter of this injustice unfolded on Sunday when in a shocking and appalling move, Sanjiv was secretly moved to another prison, a facility infamous for housing hardened criminals and terror convicts, many of whom Sanjiv himself was instrumental in putting behind bars. This isn’t just an ordinary prison transfer; it is a deliberate and calculated attempt to put Sanjiv's life and safety in grave danger and jeopardy, a grotesque act of vengeance by a regime that fears his unwavering resolve and unbreakable spirit.
Despite every brutal attempt to crush him, Sanjiv has, and continues to stand tall—his spirit unbowed, his resolve unbroken.
Sanjiv's fight is not just his own .... It is ours!!
It is a battle for the very essence of truth in a nation slipping into darkness.
Today, as Sanjiv completes 6 years in Jail, we must rise with a fiercer resolve. We cannot afford to be silent any longer!
Sanjiv's struggle is a clarion call to each one of us—to defend not only him but the soul of our democracy. His resilience is a light that cuts through the dark, reminding us of the power that lies in standing firm, no matter the cost.
The time to act is now!! Let us demand justice for Sanjiv Bhatt—a symbol of courage and integrity in a time when both are under siege.
If not us, who; If not now, when?
Our battle for justice continues ....
#justiceforsanjivbhatt #FreeSanjivBhatt #EnoughIsEnough
To every BJP leader who is talking about Emergency today, do you have the courage to ask your supreme leader why is this man still in jail?
If you can't ask, understand that your boss is a dictator and you're in a worse condition than in an Emergency!
It’s 6 years today since Dad was wrongfully incarcerated for a crime he did not commit; his only crime, that he dared to stand up against this draconian regime …
6 years on, our fight for justice continues …
Unbroken, Unbent, Unbowed …
You have and continue to be the person Shan and I strive to be every single day of our lives! Words cannot truly do justice to how much we love and miss you and how very proud we are of you!
This is Aakashi & Shantanu Bhatt,
As I witnessed numerous posts and messages flood social media yesterday, my heart filled with sorrow, longing and rage, for yet again we stood in the face of another Father’s Day, torn apart from our father.
Once a year father’s across the world are celebrated but for Shan and me, every day is Father’s day .. for every second of every day, we take pride in, and celebrate the most courageous man we will ever know, who we have the immense honour and privilege to call our father!
While I pen this down, I do so in the hope that this be the last time I have to take to social media to wish our father… that this time next year, we would truly be able to celebrate Father’s Day with dad by our side.
Dad, I wish Shan and I were able to say this to you in person – Thank you, for being the father, we can only hope to deserve, for being the person you are and for moulding us into the individuals we are proud to be today. Dad, you’ve been an ideal son and son-in-law, a loyal friend, a loving and devoted husband, an exemplary officer, but the role I believe you excelled in beyond all is that of a Father. Dad, you’ve run alongside us as we gallivanted our way in life, sprinting joyfully by our side on our happiest days, walking alongside us on our saddest hour and carrying us through our darkest times. You’ve been our force of life, our cornerstone, our north star. It is from you that we draw our strength and courage to smile in the face of adversity and soldier on. You’ve been our toughest critic, our strongest supporter, the sane voice of reason in our heads, the courage in our hearts and the very soul of our being. Everything we are today, the individual’s we’ve grown into, our accomplishments, all belong to you.
I say this for both Shan and I, that of all the things we are thankful in life for, being your children surpasses them all! You have and continue to be the person we strive to be every single day of our lives. You, dad, are not just our father… you are our entire world!
For years now Shan and I have witnessed you selflessly and courageously fight against this draconian regime… yours is the kind of courage one can only dream of having. You have and continue to lead your life with such exemplary courage, dignity and strength, inspiring minds all across the globe to fearlessly and courageously stand for truth and justice, no matter the consequences and to bravely soldier on - to fight till the finish!
You, dad, are not just a hero to Shan and me, but for the world!
Words cannot truly do justice to how much we love and miss you and how proud we are of you!
The last few weeks have been testament to people of our nation waking up to this regime’s horrific reality …. While the battle of ideology may have been won, the war for justice and freedom still continues!
We may be torn apart today, but it is our faith and belief and that of millions of people across the world, that this dark night shall end soon, and our lives will soon be filled with the dawn of laughter and togetherness again.
Happy Father’s Day, Dad!
Thank you for being you, but most importantly thank you for being the best father anyone can ever ask for!
Love you more than you can ever imagine!!
Proud children of an extremely strong father,
Aakashi & Shantanu

Let us rise, not in anger, but in solidarity. Let us raise our voices, not in hatred, but in unwavering determination for justice, freedom and democracy!
This is Shweta Sanjiv Bhatt,
MPs from the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand united in a powerful Joint Parliamentary Statement raising concerns regarding the human rights violation in India and the continued unjust incarceration of human rights defenders like Mr. Sanjiv Bhatt, Mr Umar Khalid and Ms Gulfisha Fatima .
As India stands on the brink of a crucial election, one which will determine its destiny as either a steadfast democracy or a looming dictatorship, let's stand together for justice, democracy, secularism and freedom.
Together, let's amplify this call for justice for our brave defenders and for our beloved nation!
Please find below the Joint International Parliamentary Statement:
We demand the reversal of the 20-year sentence given to whistleblower Sanjiv Bhatt on baseless charges from 1996. This follows a life sentence in a clearly retaliatory move for his testimony against Modi in the 2002 Gujarat Pogrom. @aakashibhatt@sanjivbhatt#FreeSanjivBhatt
Gujarat govt and Central govt released 11 gang rapist-mass murderers, did everything in their power and spent CRORES to keep them out of jail. BUT. Sanjeev Bhatt is denied justice...
The continued targeted persecution of my father, Mr Sanjiv Bhatt is testimony to the colossal threat his truth poses to this regime.
The blatant misuse of judiciary and absolute abuse of power is only indicative of how desperate the regime is to silence my father at any cost!
This is Shweta Sanjiv Bhatt,
Today, on 28th March 2024, the “Justice” J.N. Thakkar of the Palanpur Sessions court illegally and falsely convicted Sanjiv Bhatt in a 28-year-old fabricated case.
"Justice" J.N. Thakkar today pronounced an unlawful conviction of 20 years of rigorous imprisonment NOT CONCURRENT to the Life Imprisonment sentence along with a fine of 5 lakh rupees.
Which means, the 5.5 years spent as an under-trial in this case while the prosecution maliciously dragged the fabricated case on and on will not be counted towards the 20 years of imprisonment or the unlawful Life imprisonment sentence…
In fact, in a gross departure from legal principles, as per the judgement pronounced by J.N. Thakkar, the 20 years of imprisonment are to start and counted after the completion of the Life Imprisonment sentence.
THE REGIME WANTS TO PUNISH SANJIV BHATT TO DEATH AND THEN PUNISH HIM BEYOND DEATH FOR A CRIME HE DID NOT COMMIT!!!
Just when you think the regime and their bootlickers cannot stoop any lower, they fall further down to unimaginable lows!
Not only is this an absolute mockery of the judiciary and blatant abuse of power but it stands against every legal tenant of jurisprudence!
This is the heavy and cruel price Sanjiv Bhatt is paying for standing up for what is right while the very society he sacrificed his everything to protect remains silent and watches on as mute spectators.
This is the price Sanjiv Bhatt is paying for your continued silence and apathy …
Dangerous examples continue to be made of Sanjiv Bhatt as the regime continues to leave no stone unturned to prosecute and target him, so much so that they are using any and every desperate means, to discredit Sanjiv and ensure he spends his life languishing in jail.
The regime has targeted and persecuted Sanjiv Bhatt relentlessly for the last 2 decades, which is testimony to the colossal threat Sanjiv’s truth poses to this regime. The misuse of the judiciary and abuse of power is only indicative of how desperate the regime is to silence Sanjiv at any cost!
We, Sanjiv Bhatt and his family will fight this, we will fight it to the finish, till our last breath ….
But know this, when you as a society failed to raise your voice and defend the very defenders when they were being targeted for fighting your battles, you ensured that no one in the future will show the courage displayed by people like Sanjiv …
You failed to protect your defenders; will another defender ever stand up to defend you in the future!?
The regime and its lackeys, intoxicated by power and fuelled by malice, are determined to crush dissent, to silence the voices that dare to speak out against their tyranny.
Let us rise, not in anger, but in solidarity. Let us raise our voices, not in hatred, but in unwavering determination. Let us fight, for Sanjiv Bhatt … against the injustice meted out to him! This isn't just injustice; this is a declaration of war against truth, against righteousness, against the very essence of humanity!!
