2A5. Everyone should read Chapter 9 of #TheSchoolIDeserve. Refugees, undocumented, and unaccompanied minors many times all suffer from trauma which severely affects learning. There is also a pressure for students to work to support families. #MLLChat_BkClub

2A4. Storytelling is powerful. It creates empathy and understanding. It allows us to "walk in another person's shoes." Humans are moved by others' stories, and liberated by sharing their own. #MLLChat_BkClub

2A3. Concerns/challenges related to the lawsuit for the students and refugee community included a distrust of the lawyers, fear of being kicked out of the school district, and concern about forceful repercussions. Refugee families did not understand this rights. #MLLChat_BkClub

2A2. Wanting to "fit in" is a normal human response. My job is to create an school environment where all students belong. I'd find ways to celebrate my MLLs differences and elevate their stories. All Ss need to know, regardless of differences, they matter. #MLLChat_BkClub

2A1. Phoenix Academy was not an appropriate placement for any MLL due to its lack of cultural sensitivity and differentiation. Metal detectors and strict discipline was traumatizing to the newcomers. Ss could not bring home books which hindered English learning. #MLLChat_BkClub
