Identifying potential around us is essential. 20,000 hectares of cotton in middle awash is a new reality for an area in the Afar region that was once prone to flooding. Similarly the fruit potential of the area is being untapped though enhanced irrigation systems.

It becomes “unconfirmed reports” and “claims” when a favorite terrorist group commits crimes on innocent civilians in regions it violently occupied.

It is taken as fact when same terrorist group cries foul in an orchestrated manner.

I join other African leaders in reiterating that a continent of around 1.3 billion people needs a permanent voice and seat at the UNSC represented through a bloc. Issues and decisions that concern the continent cannot continue being addressed without continental representation.
