@Coach_McDowell1 @dr_s_bertrand I haven't read this book yet, but have found it in my search for how to be a better instructor. It seems like it would be helpful with your goals! It's Fostering Resilient Learners: Strategies for Creating a Trauma-Sensitive Classroom by Kristen Souers and Pete Hall.
@Coach_McDowell1 @dr_s_bertrand I love the idea of having guest speakers come in, this seems like a great way to open up the room for conversations and welcome diverse perspectives.
@MinasianSerenah @dr_s_bertrand Dr. Emdin's ideas in Reality Pedagogy also resonated with me. How do you see yourself using his ideas to promote equity and healing in your classroom?
@dr_s_bertrand I want to be better about facilitating difficult conversations that allow for this healing to take place. I have always been worried that I will do it wrong, but not trying is worse than messing it up. #tch407su2020
@dr_s_bertrand Dr. Emdin's Reality Pedagogy has been very helpful for me, but also Zaretta Hammond's work on Culturally Responsive classrooms - her articles on Cult of Pedagogy and Culturally Responsive Teaching & The Brain are very useful for effectively teaching ALL students #tch407su2020
@dr_s_bertrand Alexa Parker, Writing Instructor, planning ways to incorporate Cogenerative Dialogue in the classroom, thinking about lesson plans that allow for productive conversations about racism and inequity to take place, as well as how to alter Unit Projects to do this #tch407su2020
