Maharashtra government fails to break deadlock on BEST bus strike in Mumbai, undertaking seeks help from state road transport (MSRTC) on the eve of #NEET exams on Sunday.
MSRTC offers 100 buses for operations and 60 additional buses for NEET exam centres.
So here's an update. The BEST bus strike in Mumbai continues.
By the end of the day, it ran just 48 buses as compared to 2,766 buses everyday.
26 buses were vandalised due to stone pelting, flat tyre & mirrors smashed.
Of the 48, nine were self-owned buses and 39 wet lease ones.
Earlier in the day, Maharashtra Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik took a meeting of the protesting unions.
The action committee of 12 unions said the meeting was positive, but ineffective and announced at 930pm that the strike would continue.
Onto the second day now...
"From 12 midnight tonight, the bus transport and electricity supply employees of BEST will go on strike. The strike has been called by the BEST Joint Workers' Action Committee." #Mumbai
