Today, I convened a high-level stakeholder engagement bringing together federal and state institutions, legislators, regulators, and other key actors across the electricity value chain to strengthen coordination on the implementation of the Electricity Act, 2023.
Nigeria’s transition to a decentralized electricity market is one of the most significant reforms in our power sector in decades. Its success will depend not on institutional competition, but on collaboration, regulatory certainty, and our shared commitment to delivering better outcomes for Nigerians.
I am encouraged by the constructive engagement of all stakeholders, including the decision to deepen consultations as we continue to strengthen the implementation framework.
A key outcome of today’s meeting was the establishment of a nine-member inter-agency committee, which I will chair, to drive sustained engagement, resolve emerging implementation issues, and support the seamless operationalization of the Electricity Act, 2023.
Together, we are laying the foundation for a modern, reliable, and investor-friendly electricity market that delivers improved service, attracts investment, and powers Nigeria’s economic growth.
Today, we broke ground on 3 interconnected mini-grid projects in Kofare, Saminaka & Mbamba, Adamawa State. Delivered through the Distributed Access through Renewable Energy Scale-up (DARES) Programme, this delivers 13.5MW of clean, reliable power for communities that have waited.
We launched the AMP Nigeria Pilot Project today with REA, UNDP & GEF: 23 mini-grids, 15 states, 50,000+ Nigerians powered. Phase 2 will do more
Renewable energy isn’t an alternative to our grid, it’s part of it. Better power is coming!

While speaking at the Q2 NESI Stakeholders Meeting convened by @NERCNG, I noted that every actor across the electricity value chain; operators, regulators, government, shares both burden of the problem and responsibility for the solution. We go far, together.

This morning, we were at the passing out parade of a sub unit of Oyo State Amotekun called Forest Rangers. The new recruits are to work in forests within their Local Government Areas alongside other stakeholders such as hunters and other community-based groups.
Their task is to secure our farmers and others engaged in economic activities. They are also to preserve our natural resources in our forests to prevent illegal activities.
