Signing of Cooperation Agreement Between AARINENA and CACAARI
A cooperation agreement was officially signed between AARINENA and the Central Asia and the Caucasus Association of Agricultural Research Institutions (CACAARI) during the Executive Committee Meeting held in İzmir, Türkiye.
The agreement was signed by Dr. Mustafa Altuğ ATALAY, President of AARINENA, and Dr. Botir Dosov, Executive Director of CACAARI, in the presence of Executive Committee members and partner organizations.
The agreement aims to strengthen cooperation in agricultural research, training, capacity building, and scientific exchange between the two organizations. It also promotes joint initiatives, workshops, and knowledge-sharing activities, as well as coordinated efforts to address regional challenges such as climate change, water scarcity, and food security.
Both parties emphasized the importance of inter-regional collaboration to enhance agricultural innovation and support sustainable development.
AARINENA Executive Committee Meeting Held in İzmir, Türkiye
The Executive Committee of the AARINENA convened its meeting in İzmir, Türkiye, on 14–15 May 2026, under the presidency of Dr. Mustafa Altuğ ATALAY, President of AARINENA and Director General of the General Directorate of Agricultural Research and Policies (TAGEM).
The meeting brought together Executive Committee members and regional and international partners to review progress, discuss strategic priorities, and strengthen cooperation in agricultural research and innovation across regions.
The meeting was generously hosted by TAGEM, whose excellent organization and warm hospitality were highly appreciated by all participants.
The agenda included presentations from key regional and international organizations, including Central Asia and the Caucasus Association of Agricultural Research Institutions (CACAARI), Arab Forum for Rural Advisory Services (AFRAS), Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa (FARA), and the Asia-Pacific Association of Agricultural Research Institutions (APAARI), highlighting opportunities for enhanced collaboration, knowledge exchange, and joint action on shared agricultural challenges.
During the Executive Committee deliberations, participants reviewed AARINENA’s ongoing programs, thematic networks, and strategic partnerships, and explored ways to further strengthen regional agricultural research cooperation to address food security, climate change, and sustainable agricultural development.

AARINENA Executive Secretary Visits TAGEM to Meet Newly Elected President Dr. Mustafa Altuğ Atalay
Ankara, Turkey – Dr. Rida Shibli, Executive Secretary of AARINENA, visited the General Directorate of Agricultural Research and Policies (TAGEM) of Turkey to meet with Dr. Mustafa Altuğ ATALAY, Director General of TAGEM and newly elected President of AARINENA for the 2026–2028 term, following his election during the General Assembly meeting held in Amman in December 2025.
During the visit, Dr. ATALAY and Dr. Shibli discussed AARINENA’s current situation, strategic priorities, and vision for the next three years, focusing on enhancing regional cooperation and promoting sustainable agricultural development across the Near East and North Africa.
Dr. ATALAY emphasized Turkey’s commitment to continuing cooperation and supporting AARINENA's efforts in the region, while Dr. Shibli expressed appreciation for this support and highlighted the importance of learning from Turkey’s successful achievements in the agricultural sector.
The program also included a field visit to the Directorate of the National Botanical Garden of Turkey and the Field Crops Central Research Institute, where Dr. Shibli admired the extensive efforts made by TAGEM’s institutions to strengthen Turkey’s agricultural sector. Dr. Shibli reaffirmed AARINENA’s commitment to benefiting from these initiatives and fostering a collaborative environment in the region under the leadership of TAGEM.

AARINENA Strengthens Youth and Climate Collaboration through Partnership with GGF
AARINENA has signed a Cooperation Agreement with the Green Generation Foundation (GGF) as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen partnerships with active institutions working in the fields of sustainable agriculture, climate change, and youth empowerment across the NENA region.
The agreement was signed on behalf of AARINENA by Dr. Rida Shibli, Executive Secretary of the Association, and on behalf of the Green Generation Foundation by Mr. Abdallah Dreiat, Board Member of the Foundation.
The agreement aims to enhance collaboration between the two parties through knowledge exchange, joint programs and activities, capacity-building initiatives, and the promotion of youth engagement in agricultural research, innovation, and climate action. It also seeks to strengthen the link between scientific research, community-based action, and policy dialogue related to sustainability and climate resilience.
The Green Generation Foundation (GGF) is a youth-led, non-profit organization based in Jordan, dedicated to empowering young people in the areas of environmental protection, climate change, and sustainable development. The Foundation focuses on building youth leadership capacities and promoting meaningful youth participation in addressing environmental and climate-related challenges at local, national, and regional levels.
Both parties emphasized that this partnership reflects AARINENA’s continued commitment to expanding its regional network and collaborating with youth-driven and community-based organizations, in support of agricultural innovation, climate-resilient food systems, and the development of a new generation of leaders in the region.
