๐จ Pep Guardiola on Ayoub Bouaddiโs performance against PSG and why Manchester City have made a very intelligent investment:
โWhen I watched Ayoub Bouaddi, one of the first things I noticed was that he was not playing football like a young player trying to impress people.
He was playing like somebody who already understood what the game needed.
This is very different.
You can find young players who run, who dribble, who make beautiful passes. There are many. But finding one who understands where he must be before the ball arrives? This is more difficult.
I remember discussing him with somebody who knew him from his time in France.
I asked, โWhat is the most impressive thing about this boy?โ
He said, โPep, sometimes we are explaining something to him, and he is already asking about the next situation.โ
I said, โAh, okay. So he is going to give his coaches some problems.โ
Because these players, they want to understand everything. You explain one movement, they ask why. You explain why, they ask what happens if the opponent does something different.
But I love this.
You donโt want 11 players waiting for instructions every time something changes on the pitch.
You want players who can think.
And against Paris Saint-Germain, you saw why this is important.
Manchester City were losing 3โ0 at halftime. This is not an easy game to enter. PSG are pressing, the stadium is nervous, and everybody wants something to happen immediately.
Then this young boy comes on.
And what does he do?
He asks for the ball.
Not once. Again and again.
He receives it with opponents close to him, he finds Elliot Anderson, he helps City move forward, and suddenly the team begins to look more comfortable.
Then he gives the pass for Erlingโs 2nd goal.
People will talk about the assist, of course. It is beautiful.
But for me, the interesting part is what happened before.
The positions he took. The decisions he made. The way he gave his teammates another passing option when they were under pressure.
These things are not always in the highlights.
And listen, City still lost the game. We cannot pretend the result doesnโt matter because one young player performed well.
But you must also recognise what you have.
When you sign a player like this, you are not only thinking about Saturday or the next Champions League match.
You are thinking about the midfielder he can become in 5 years, 7 years, 10 years.
People look at the transfer fee and ask, โWhy spend so much on somebody so young?โ
I understand the question.
But sometimes the expensive thing is not buying the player.
The expensive thing is watching him become one of the best midfielders in Europe and then trying to buy him five years later.
Now, he must continue learning. One great half doesnโt make you a complete player. He will have difficult games. He will make mistakes.
And when he makes mistakes, people must remember how young he is.
But I watched him against PSG and thought something very simple.
Manchester City may have lost the match.
I donโt think they will regret buying this boy.โ
๐จ Josรฉ Mourinho: โIf the team that finished the game today startedโฆ we would've lost 5-0โ.
โIt worked in those last minutes, because it was a specific situation, it wouldn't work for 90 minutesโ.

๐จ Zlatan Ibrahimoviฤ on Luis Enriqueโs PSG after their victory over Manchester City:
โHonestly, sometimes it feels like cheating. And before people start getting angry, let me explain what I mean.
โLook at Manchester City. They come into this game after playing a difficult match against Liverpool over the weekend. That game takes something out of you physically and mentally. You spend 90 minutes fighting, pressing, running, recovering, and then you have another massive European game waiting for you.
โMeanwhile, PSG can approach their schedule differently. They play in Ligue 1, and let's be honest about the difference in competition. My grandmother would score goals in that league if you gave her the right service! I'm joking, of course, but you understand my point.
โPeople watch PSG destroy a team and immediately start calling them the greatest side in Europe. But I want to know something: how much of that dominance comes from Luis Enrique's football, and how much comes from the circumstances around them?
โLuis Enrique is a good coach. I'm not denying that. His players move the ball well, they press aggressively, and they have quality everywhere. But I think people are getting carried away with the praise. For me, this PSG team is overrated. You have to judge them when the pressure is at its highest, when the opposition can match their intensity and when there are no excuses.
โManchester City had to fight through a demanding schedule before facing them. PSG looked fresher, sharper, and more energetic. That difference matters at this level.
โAnd don't misunderstand me. PSG deserve credit for winning. You still have to take your chances, execute your tactics, and punish mistakes. But we need to stop acting as if every PSG victory proves they are untouchable.
โLet them prove themselves against the very best, under the same pressure, with the same demands. Then we can talk about greatness. Until then, I think people are praising Luis Enrique's PSG a little too much.โ
๐ฆ๐ท MARADONA: "I wish the Argentina national team had a Cristiano Ronaldo."
๐ซ๐ท ZIDANE: "For me, Cristiano is the greatest of all time; his numbers speak for themselves."
๐ฆ๐ท SIMEONE: "For a regular team, Iโd prefer Cristiano over Messi. With Messi, you need to surround him with the best players to get the most out of him."
๐ณ๐ฑ VAN BASTEN: "If dribbling past players won World Cups, the Netherlands would have two thanks to Johan Cruyff. But that doesnโt give you anything. If I have to choose between Messi and Cristiano, Iโd take Cristiano because he is a decisive player."
๐ต๐น FIGO: "Some players needed great teammates to grow as footballers. Cristiano only needed a ball."
๐ง๐ท PELร: "Cristiano is the best player, the best forward, and the best goal scorer of recent times."
๐คฉ THOSE WHO KNOW FOOTBALL ADMIRE CR7!
๐จ Luis Enrique on Erling Haalandโs performance despite Manchester Cityโs 4โ2 defeat to PSG:
โI was very happy with our performance tonight, but there was one player who made it difficult for me to enjoy the match until the final whistle.
Haaland.
When we scored our fourth goal, I looked at the scoreboard and thought we had put ourselves in a very good position.
Then I looked at Haaland.
He was already talking to his teammates, pointing at spaces, asking them to move the ball quicker.
I remember turning to my assistant and saying, โThis man doesnโt seem to understand that weโre winning 4โ1.โ
He said, โMaybe we should tell him.โ
I said, โNo, please. Donโt speak to him.โ
Of course Iโm joking, but this is the mentality of a great striker.
There are forwards who disappear when their team is losing. They become frustrated, they stop making runs, they wait for the match to finish.
Haaland was doing the opposite.
He scored once, then he scored again. And even after the second goal, he wasnโt celebrating like somebody who had achieved something personally. He wanted the ball back because he believed City could still win.
You have to respect that.
At one point I was telling our defenders to be careful because City were beginning to find him more often. We were two goals ahead, but I didnโt feel comfortable.
And when you look at the final result, people will see PSG 4โ2 Manchester City and naturally talk about our attacking players.
They should. Desire was fantastic. Ousmane was excellent. Vitinha, our midfield, the movements of the team. I am proud of them.
But if youโre asking me which individual player caused us the most problems tonight, I donโt need to think about it.
It was Haaland.
Sometimes football is unfair in this way. You can have an extraordinary individual performance and still go home with nothing because the other team was better collectively.
I saw him after the match. He looked disappointed, which is normal.
I told him, โErling, congratulations. You made our evening very complicated.โ
He said, โNot complicated enough.โ
I laughed because I understood exactly what he meant.
And that is what I like about him.
Two goals against Paris Saint-Germain, away from home, in a Champions League match, and heโs still thinking about the two goals his team needed.
People will debate the Man of the Match award. I think Desire deserved his recognition, and Iโm delighted for him.
But if someone tells me Haaland was the best individual player on the pitch, I wonโt argue with them.
We won because we were the better team tonight.
That doesnโt mean every player wearing our shirt had a better match than Erling Haaland.โ
Erling Haaland breaks Messiโs record, who previously held the record for reaching 60 UCL goals in the fewest games, doing so in 80 appearances.
Erling Haaland has now reached that milestone in 20 (!) fewer games ๐คฏ
