@RickEsenberg Typically, I would place rightwing populism in the center right. They aren’t exactly fiscally conservative or free marketeers. They’re also somewhat illiterate on foreign affairs.
@GBolinski@DanRShafer What a selection of candidates. The first has zero executive experience. The other two are nearly self-defeating — especially when paired together. :-)
This is nonsense on stilts and another reason why I don't believe that the MAGA/New Right is particularly conservative - at least not in the American sense. It's just a form of identity politics to match its counterpart on the left. I understand opposition to birthright citizenship and am open to the idea that Roberts should have crafted a more limited reading of "jurisdiction." But to suggest that the continuation a policy we've had for well over 100 years requires trashing our constitutional structure is nutters.
I suspect Matt Walsh knows this is nonsense but has nothing but contempt for his audience. However, if you really can't tell the difference between a thoughtful conservative originalist like Barrett and a left progress like Jackson, you probably should keep quiet about legal matters. Another reminder that having a big audience doesn't mean you have anything worthwhile to say.
