Bagama't may paglago na sa sektor ng renewable energy, tinatayang higit pa rin sa kalahati o nasa 62.5% ng enerhiya na ginagamit upang suplayan tayo ng kuryente ay galing sa pagsusunog ng coal. Malayong pumapangalawa ang natural gas sa 14.1% at geothermal energy sa 9.1%.
