@realbrentreed Call me crazy but I do believe the Padres could compete if………. Well…….a lot needs to happen for that to happen. The two biggest things are, offense has to find a way to extend at bats for production and pitching, well, probably need to go find two at the deadline.

@ExplorerofSeas I will never dismiss how awful the plate approach has been at times this year but I will also not dismiss how starting pitching as a whole has been awful. Since the 7-1 win vs the Dodgers, this staff has given up a franchise worst 66 runs and a franchise worst 8 HRs to the Cubs.

@ExplorerofSeas No. It’s not all on the pitching. All in mean is that it seems when the offense finally strings runs together the pitching staff will either give it right back in the same inning or will give up the lead over the next 3 innings. Once that happens the bats change.
