For the curious. Synology won't let you use Samsung M.2 drives for caching. Or anyone else's drives, for that matter. You MUST use theirs... which should retail around $250 for 1TB (see receipt), instead they charge about $1,700 for 1.6TB.
Just in case @Synology thought I was bluffing... receipt's attached. Locking customers into 'approved' M.2 drives at 5x retail markup is the fastest way to lose a long-time customer. Never again.
