Today was meant to be the day. But no, as it has done all along, @FootballerGay has left myself and others feeling insulted.
Some personal thoughts on the past few weeks...

Tons of us will have stories about Harry being awkward, but we should celebrate his loyalty and care to just ensure Ramsbottom United have been in the best possible position for over half a century. At least picture him and celebrate him. Happy retirement, Harry. 3/3
I feel a little sad at "moving forward" rather than celebrating 60 years (!!!) of chairmanship of one of the loveliest and most sustainable non-league clubs in the north west. Harry's a prickly character, he wound me up more than we got on but all he did was care for his club 1/3

After 60 years in charge, Ramsbottom United Chairman Harry Williams has decided the time is right to stand back.
Having been instrumental in setting up the club back in 1966, and after what is probably a record-breaking spell as a football club chairman, Harry suggested that the time is right for a new committee to be formed to take the club forward.
Former secretary Tony Cunningham explained, โHarry told me he was thinking of stepping back, and after 60 years at the helm, he has certainly earned a breakโ.
โHe then suggested we run the club with a new committee, and offered me the position of Vice-Chairman, with the aim of creating that committee. This has now been done, and we are all excited at the prospect of being able to guide the club over the coming years.
โAs for Harry, he will hopefully still attend matches, but now with the ability to enjoy the games without all the other duties which have restricted his viewing time for so long.
โHe has deserved to be able to sit in the sponsors lounge, enjoying a couple of ciggies and a couple of beers!โ
The new committeeโs first move was to appoint popular coach Rob Henry as the new club manager following the retirement of former boss Steve Wilkes.
Exciting times await for the Rams who have missed out on promotion over the last two seasons, bowing out on both occasions at the play-off stage.
Hopes are high among the committee and supporters that Rob and the players will complete the job during the upcoming season.
I was at Bamber Bridge when Rammy won promotion to the NPL Prem. I stood next to him as Bamber got a 95th minute penalty to level. He celebrated the decision and the goal ๐ Rammy went on to win in ET and you know Harry was livid. The tightest man in non-league. 2/3
