The last few weeks have been very disheartening, both as a conservative in British Columbia and, more specifically, as someone who dedicated so much time and energy to growing the conservative movement and the Conservative Party in B.C.

I would like to thank Kerry-Lynne Findlay for her service, both to Canada as a Member of Parliament and as the democratically elected leader of the Conservative Party of B.C.

Running for office can be a brutal and unforgiving experience, and I think it’s important to applaud all those who put their names forward seeking political office.

The NDP are destroying this province. They have flooded our streets with drugs, tripled our debt, and undermined many of our most important industries, institutions, and fundamental human rights.

The next election is the most important in a generation.

Now is the time for all conservatives to come together, put differences aside, unite, and do everything we can to defeat the NDP and bring common sense back to British Columbia.

I came across a provincial government website and this map was on it.
I actually saw most of Vancouver Island but decided to stick to the Campbell River area for now.

As you can see the entirety of Beaver Lodge Forest Lands and about 1/4 of Elk Falls Park seems to be identified for consideration of transfer under the Incremental Treaty Agreement (ITA) or related land transfer process.

I know how important and beloved these lands are to everyone so I decided to do an FOI to verify if this was or is actually being considered.

Unfortunately my request for the records for Beaver Lodge Forest Lands were withheld in their entirety persuant to multiple sections including section 15- DISCLOSURE HARMFUL TO LAW EMFORCEMENT.

I am still wating for a reponse to my FOI request for Elk Falls.

I strongly believe in democracy and tranparency by governments.
I also believe in reconciliation but that all processes including reconciliation must be transparent.
As an MLA, I represent ALL my constitituents and I feel since this government is not being transparent, my constituents deserve to know.

I have also started two petitions to present to the legislature.
I have included them in this posts and you can pick them up at my office.

I personally feel that the entirety of Beaver Lodge Forests and Elk Falls Park should PERMAMENTLY remain publlc lands for all British Columbians to enjoy.

Up to you my constituents, to decide.

Disgusted by recent reports of anti-forestry activists spiking trees on Vancouver Island — an extremist act meant to severely damage forestry equipment that can also seriously injure or even kill loggers and mill workers when their chainsaws or mill saws cut into the wood.

Any such incidents need to be fully investigated and perpetrators punished to the fullest extent of the law.

It is time to stop allowing a small but vocal minority to dictate our resource development policies here in B.C. through sabotage and threats!

Wow. Brookfield launches a $50 BILLION investment fund with the Canadian Pension Plan to leverage the retirement savings of millions of Canadians so private shareholders like Mark Carney can earn even bigger profits.

Great tour at Jazz Forest Products in Abbotsford alongside several of my Conservative MP colleagues.

We heard directly from their team about the challenges facing Canada’s forestry sector, including softwood lumber tariffs, trade uncertainty, and access to international markets.

Forestry supports good jobs and communities across B.C. We’ll continue pushing for a fair softwood lumber deal and the conditions Canadian producers need to grow and compete.

This is outrageous.

The man who violently stabbed and brutally murdered a father in broad daylight outside a Starbucks in downtown Vancouver has been found guilty not of second-degree murder (for which he was charged) but of merely manslaughter.

A conviction that carries with it no mandatory jail time at all.

The killer, Inderdeep Singh Gosal, could literally be back on the streets in just a matter of months.

This is part of a trend in Canada of judges who rule that stabbing or shooting someone in the face, neck, or chest somehow doesn’t “prove” intent to kill.

If judges are unwilling to use common sense, maybe it’s time for the government to consider new legislation to ensure that they do!

Genuinely disappointed (although not totally shocked) that a Liberal MP has got away with yet another gross ethics violation and, quite frankly, borderline embezzlement of public funds.

NDP-turned-Liberal MP Lori Idlout (Nunavut) was found guilty of violating Section 8 of the Conflict of Interest Code for Members of the House of Commons on five separate occasions for using her taxpayer-funded constituency budget to purchase more than $2,000 in artwork and trinkets from her own business in Iqaluit.

This is a direct violation of the provision that Members of Parliament cannot use taxpayer funds to further their own private interest – a rule that is made abundantly clear to all new MPs (she was elected in 2021).

Worse, there is documented evidence that she explicitly knew about this provision, with her compliance advisor recording, in writing, all the way back in 2022, “I also advised her (Idlout) she could not purchase gifts from the indigenous art gallery she owns with her Member’s Office Budget. She was very much aware of this.”

On top of all this, she also used her travel budget to stay at accommodations owned by her spouse – another obvious contravention of the code.

Despite these repeated infractions, and her documented awareness of the rules that she contravened, the Commissioner recommended that no sanction be imposed on Ms. Idlout.

Not even a slap on the wrist.

This is the same MP who also owned an “Indigenous management consulting firm” on the side (while being a Member of Parliament) that received contracts and money directly from the federal government (before she crossed the floor).

I don’t understand what the purpose is of having a Conflict of Interest Code if every time a Liberal MP breaks the law, nothing happens.

When Canadians vote for their elected officials, they are placing an enormous amount of trust in us to treat their hard-earned tax dollars judiciously and ethically.

With that trust comes an enormous amount of responsibility.

When someone violates that trust and breaks the law, there need to be consequences.

I’m sure I speak for many who dedicated countless hours building the conservative movement in B.C., and the Conservative Party of British Columbia in particular, when I say the last few weeks have been hard to watch.

Anything that results in the NDP being re-elected will be an unmitigated disaster not only for B.C., but for the entire country.

I hope those in charge, and those in the legislature, know what they are doing!

100% agree. We need to stop offshoring our industrial capacity to other countries — especially countries like China who cheat and subsidize their state-owned businesses as a strategy to deindustrialize competing nations.

The decision to build the next generation of BC Ferries in China not only cost thousands of Canadian jobs, but it also missed a generational opportunity to expand the critical shipbuilding sector here in B.C.

Even worse, it was subsidized with a low interest loan from the federal Liberal government.

Taxpayers are literally subsidizing jobs in a foreign country.

We need to bring these jobs and critical industries back to Canada instead of constantly sending them overseas.
