My youngest son and I spent the better part of a few hours today playing with GarageBand audio mixing. We created some "podcasts", we recorded guitar and vocals, and we mixed vocals with an instagram "remix with me" video.
And through all that he really just wanted to (1/2)
Mastodon's barrier to entry was really high, specifically choosing a server. Once I picked one, things started to fall into place. It turns out to be optimized for how I was already using Twitter anyway.
I know we sound like haters. But I'm gonna go ahead and join the chorus of people talking about how *deeply* uninterested I am in choosing a mastodon server.
While I did step back from using Twitter like I used to, I've still been browsing fairly regularly. The curious part of me wants to observe what happens to the user experience as things inevitably degrade. I'm also glad I downloaded my Twitter archive a couple weeks ago.
On social media, we are the product. I've largely accepted that, but I'm using this time of Twitter upheaval to a) mourn with my friends who work there, and b) take a look at where I spend my own time and energy online.
I decided to delete my old tweets and take a step back.
