For the first time yesterday, I experienced the new @alamodrafthouse QR code ordering system and I can tell you it’s truly awful. Rather than making ordering food and drink more efficient, it actually adds steps to the process AND if you want to order additional items during the film you HAVE to open your phone. No, your cute reference to that irony in your How To Alamo video doesn’t negate how ridiculous this is. Please don’t cut corners with your staff and revert back to physical menus and order cards.
@elijahwood@alamodrafthouse It really saddens me that this Alamo hasn’t realized how badly they’ve damaged the audience experience (as well as their brand rep that set them apart)
Also, Obsession is the lowest-budgeted horror film to top the North American box office since #ParanormalActivity in 2009, the film that launched Blumhouse.
The combined horror films of Blumhouse-Atomic Monster have now generated more than $10B in worldwide box office.
Great time to be a horror fan. Via @blumhouse this is some very cool info for a Monday.
Blumhouse-Atomic Monster has #1 and #2 movies in the US w/ #Backrooms and #Obsession.
Obsession is the #1 movie for Focus Features of all time.
Backrooms will be biggest opening for A24 ever.
Deep inner suffering inevitably arises when the human person is reduced to performance, consumption, or a statistical datum. Many young people today live under the yoke of expectations to perform, immersed in an exasperated competitiveness that generates anxiety, fear of not measuring up, and disorientation.
Been traveling and finally had the chance to watch #Punisher special. Crazy good fight choreography. It was just a bit short, and wanted more. Love Bernthal in this role, but hope we see an expansion in the kinds of stories told with the character.
@carebecc We don't know one another, but I know your work. I empathize w/ constant demand for creation & the toll it takes whilst struggling with mental health. You're doing the right thing by taking a break to look after yourself. Take the time you need & be well.
As evidenced by the unbridled promotion and implementation of technology at the expense of human dignity, we are truly experiencing an eclipse of the sense of what it means to be human. It is imperative to recover an understanding of the true meaning and grandeur of humanity as intended by God. It is in this sense that the challenge we currently face is not technological, but anthropological, and it is my hope that the Encyclical Letter to be published within a few days will contribute to answering this challenge.
Tulsi Gabbard’s resignation has been writing on the wall for some time. Personally I think she is harmful to the nation. Still, I empathize with her family & think all Americans should be afforded the coverage she enjoys.
I am deeply grateful for the trust President Trump placed in me and for the opportunity to lead @ODNIgov for the last year and a half.
Unfortunately, I must submit my resignation, effective June 30, 2026. My husband, Abraham, has recently been diagnosed with an extremely rare form of bone cancer. He faces major challenges in the coming weeks and months. At this time, I must step away from public service to be by his side and fully support him through this battle.
Or am I threatened by things that seem outside my own norm?
For me, I find once I pose those questions, and once I internalize the choice to strive to be kind/tolerant/accepting, it becomes far clearer to work towards that kindness, and to determine who clearly rejects it.
By no means do I have “it” figured out but I do suspect kindness is the key. I try, I fail, I try again. It’s not just an act. Or a single act. It is a philosophy; kindness is a mindset. It is a constant choice to try, to evolve.
It’s not always easy. Am I giving? Am I supporting? Am I able to accept things that even seem so fundamentally different or “strange” to me? Or do I resist, protest, and seek to remove or take away from others? Can I discern who is different from me and just trying to exist?
I believe in hell. Primarily because I truly believe there’s a special place in hell for Mike Johnson. It’s the Bad Place where invertebrates are doomed to slink about seeking a spine that they’ll never find because they sold it in their mortal life.
“WE NEED TO LET THEM DO INSIDER TRADING TO FEED THEIR FAMILIES”
That was the actual argument just made in defense of politicians trading stocks.
Members of Congress make $174,000 a year.
The median American income is roughly $63,000. (3x less)
Meanwhile the federal minimum wage is $7.25 an hour… also unchanged since 2009.
And you’re seriously being told politicians need access to insider trading to survive.
The system is designed to lead earth to neo-feudalism.
And it’s becoming more brazen by the year.
Asset ownership consolidates upward.
Living standards decline downward.
The middle class gets squeezed from both ends and disappears while the elite class accumulates more wealth, more influence, and more protection.
Leaving behind a permanent underclass.
And a permanent political-financial aristocracy at the top…
“WE NEED TO LET THEM DO INSIDER TRADING TO FEED THEIR FAMILIES.”
Congress makes $174k.
Median income is about $63k.
Minimum wage is $7.25.
If your “public servant” needs Wall Street crime to survive, that’s not a government, that’s a cartel.
Welcome to neo-feudalism. You’re the peasant, they’re the aristocracy.
