Whatever I said about heated rivalry on the pod disregard that: having watched all the available episodes these are my opinions:
1. Connor Storrie’s Russian pronunciation is so damn impressive for a non-native speaker. And he speaks a lot of Russian in these last episodes. (The only issue I think is the writing—a lot of the dialogue does not read authentically Russian e.g. he would surely call his girlfriend Sveta and not Svetlana. But I could be wrong)
2. Spoiler: the kiss on the ice, while riveting (I screamed) is not based in any reality on earth that I know of. But WHO CARES? I want and need a hot gay fantasy that doesn’t end in assault, murder, or AIDS.
3. And to that point, if this season ends with some curveball tragedy I will send a strongly worded letter to my congressman and I encourage you to do the same.
Lastly, I hope these actors are doing great and having the time of their lives. I hope it gets 3 more seasons. If you’re a network exec and you’re thinking about cancelling this show: DONT DO IT LITTLE GIRL!
Cynthia Erivo on what she wants people to take away from her Elphaba:
“In the first movie, I really wanted people to see her lightness. I think it’s easy to discount her as someone who is angsty and mean and sort of defensive. In the second movie, I really wanted people to watch her fall into her weakest moment. With No Good Deed, people usually believe that she’s angry and strong, but I actually think she’s at her weakest. It’s the moment when she’s surrendered to what has been said about her, because there’s nothing left to give.”
