I waited a few days to tweet this thank you message to GT, because I wanted to process some emotions and feelings regarding the end of their season.
I am not an unbiased reporter— I try to be fair, but anyone who follows me and enjoys my content knows that I ride the vibes of teams on my beat.
For three years the Jackets have given me pretty much unlimited access to coaches and players, which is why they’ve gotten a ton of love from me.
I am so grateful to have had the privilege to cover this group and really get to know them on a personal level.
I’m crushed that we won’t get that senior and draft eligible group in Omaha. I’m crushed that a historic team, one that might be the best in program history, fell short.
But the journey was a lot of fun and that’s what makes covering college baseball so special— the people and the moments that make us believe anything is possible.
It’s the stories like Post-Grad Parker and Carson Kerce’s rise from platoon freshman to superstar shortstop.
It’s Tyler Neises and Drew Burress graduating in 3 years when nobody else in program had done that before.
It’s Carson Ballard balancing the Saturday starter role while getting a degree in Biomedical engineering.
It’s Tate McKee’s sibling relationship with Matt Taylor and Jason Richman. It’s Jackson Blakely’s breakout and Alex Hernandez being a positive penguin.
It’s Mason Patel opting to come back for one more season and Caleb Daniel’s walk up song.
It’s Kent Schmidt, the glizzy gladiator with Hollaback Girl blaring in the background. It’s Will Baker and “Oy Oy Oy” from the dugout.
Heck, it’s Nathanael Coupet always getting knocks and also nearly getting knocked out in warm ups at UNC.
It’s Zuck and Ja turning down SEC money to stay in the ACC and take their game from good to elite.
It’s Justin Shadek pumping 100 and Dmitri Angelakos striking out the side.
It’s Drew Rogers slugging off the bench, and Caden, Kayden, and Caden warming up in the pen.
It’s Cooper Underwood turning into Mason Miller against Wake Forest and Charlie Willcox showing us the potential for stardom.
It’s Vahn playing eight positions and smiling non-stop, hitting tape measure home runs and reminding everyone who Catcher U is.
Anyways, not to be dramatic (lol), but that entire roster and staff built a house in my heart and moved in permanently.
Thank you to everyone at Georgia Tech (including Anthony their SID and Colin, their radio guy) for an incredible season, it was a special ride.

Best player to walk through Russ Chandler
The man was ready for 5 weeks to show his stuff on the BIG STAGE!
53 pitches through 4 innings. 2 hits, 1BB!!!! The 3 hour rain delay got him.... who knows what his outing could've been! Proud of his focus, preparation, and tenacity

🚨BREAKING: After defeating Canada to win gold, the U.S. women’s hockey team wrapped themselves in American flags, and then stood arm in arm, and sang the national anthem, drawing praise from conservatives who say the moment sharply contrasts with other Team USA athletes who criticize America but fail to deliver victories.
