The cube being so comedic in the trailer basically guarantees the devs think they can be clever by later giving him the deep/dark/unfunny backstory. What's the opposite existence of a funny goopy cube? A stone, man. A stone. He's gonna be turned into a stone.
Buying into this GoW guess early:
The sword is Excalibur.
The cube is the stone.
The ribbon is Merlin(a).
Mom of War: Luffy ends with her reborn as Morgan le Fay(e), Kratos becomes Urien and they fight Arthur/Atreus + Knights of the Round Table in *God of War: Avalon* in 2032.
Oh, it's a disco ball! Wow. I never would have gotten that. You know, I bet this looked neat on someone's big monitor (and probably took the AI only a few seconds to make), but on my phone it looks like green nothing.
I think people misremember the Phantom Menace backlash because it was back when you talked about movies out loud with friends, not to strangers all shouting into the Hope Extinction Machine with the gom jabbar at each other's throats. Hating bad movies used to be good fun.
A monogamous commitment means your partner doesn’t sleep with other people. It doesn’t mean they don’t want to. They do, and so do you. And if you go looking for evidence your partner wants to sleep with other people, you will find it.
First impressions: Crimson Desert seems pretty cool. Definitely wears its influences on its sleeves. A lot of Zelda, a lot of Skyrim. And I clearly just Red Dead'd out of a tent.
There's more love for Star Trek in each single frame of this AI music video than anything made by Paramount for the last 20 years.

Every game podcast: "I plan to check out [game] later on, after it gets good. But other people should keep playing it while it sucks. To keep the business going. So they can fix it up. For me. For when I'm ready. I really don't have time for video games anymore, anyway."
Gamers: We don’t want this.
Devs: It’s not for you.
Oh, my bad. Who’s it for then? The invisible demographic? The mythical “modern audience” that only exists in PowerPoint slides?
"This ship cannot sink!"
"She's made of iron, sir. I assure you, she can. And she will. It is a mathematical certainty."
[The Highguard offices, I assume...]
I think it's an unexpected drawback of good back-compat support and live service games on console:
A brand new XBOX or PS used to be a wasteland with only 4 games to pick. Now a new game competes with basically every game ever released, plus the forever games. Good luck!
Publishers still hoping "I CAN'T WAIT to play [blank]!"
It made sense 10+ years ago when games released at a slower pace and rarely became forever games.
But 2026 is full of forever games. I CAN wait to play your game. 2000s-era hype-driven game dev is dead. There is no hype.
A large part of the Wildlight Entertainment team that worked on @PlayHighguard has been laid off, just 16 days after release.
An unfortunate, brutal and sad outcome for a game I enjoyed in early play tests.
