yall need to free yourselves. that being said, if any of you guys see me watching a movie alone in melbourne feel free to start a convo ๐๐ฝ always wanna talk to people about movies
I think Evil Dead Burn is my kind of "elevated" horror (hate the term, but whatever). If you're going to deal explicitly with an idea, don't let it detract from the HORROR MOVIE at the centre. The Smile movies (2 especially) also do this well.
don't care how horrible a person is, never an excuse to attack their appearance. genuinely gross behaviour and i have no idea why it's given such a free pass
Remember for every insult you fling at her, theres at least a thousand people with the same attributes, who did nothing wrong, and yet now understand the world considers them disgusting.

@SailorJDove I mean I personally love a lot of these films, but I'm confused how so many of these AREN'T this. Men is probably THE example. X, Us, The Substance, Heretic, I Saw the TV Glow are all great but absolutely metaphorror even if they aren't about "trauma"
@NathanUWU8@screamsivann Is this a critic or audience review? I don't really believe in dismissing every RT certified critic just because I disagree with swathes of them (I mean I quite enjoyed Burn). Sure, some are hacks, but plenty are thoughtful, creative writers!
"Evil Dead Burn" director Sรฉbastien Vaniฤek says "I donโt think I would write and direct another 'Evil Dead.'"
"The only one who can do two 'Evil Dead' movies is Sam Raimi! Itโs a franchise that needs a fresh vision and fresh directors all the time. Fans want to be surprised, and if we want to keep the franchise alive, we need those different visions."

Evil Dead Rise is more consistently "good", has a very loveable cast, and probably THE central Deadite performance, but part of me respects Evil Dead Burn for taking much bigger swings. Rise plays out, beat for beat, like a reskinned 2013 version.
CORRECTION - EVIL DEAD BURN debuted this past weekend with $13.7 million in U.S. theaters and $25 million at the worldwide box office.
