Canada stands with the family of Oded Lifshitz — and all Israelis — in mourning the unimaginable loss of four Israeli hostages.

Abducted by Hamas from his home in kibbutz Nir Oz on October 7, Oded’s remains were returned today to Israel, along with those of three hostages yet to be identified. Our thoughts are with the Bibas family as they, too, await news of their loved ones.

The suffering these innocent civilians endured in captivity shows exactly why Hamas must have no role in the future of Gaza.

In this moment of immense grief, we reiterate our call for an end to this unspeakable cruelty. Every hostage must be freed. The remains of those killed, including Canadian Judih Weinstein, must be returned home.
