A TALE OF TWO CHIEFS

(OR THE LAND OF THE QUIET ONES)

Once upon a time, there was a Chief

He was always under pressure

Nobody liked him

One day, when he was not at home, some people who were angry at him tried to burn his house down

When he came back, he hunted them down, one by one

He was ruthless, and didn't stop at any cost

Soon, he had hunted down all the angry people

Nobody was spared from his punishment

Soon, everybody liked him

They said so, every day

They shouted it from the mountaintops

They sang songs about him

The Chief was so happy

He thought everybody liked him now

So he made them shout and sing all day, all the time

But one day it all stopped

There was silence

Nobody could talk anymore

Those who had been shouting and singing for him had lost their voice

The Chief didn't like this

He didn't like the silence

He couldn't bear it

He started going mad

So he started talking

And all he did was talk and talk

Everywhere he went, he talked

And from that day

The only voice in that land

Now called The Land of Quiet Ones

Was just his own
