According to reports, four GBU-57 bombs were identified in Iran’s Zanjan province. Three were destroyed at the site, likely because they were partially damaged or too dangerous to transport. One was recovered fully intact and handed over for analysis.
In addition, Iran has reportedly captured more than 9,500 cluster submunitions, 52 rockets, more than 10 missiles, and 2 fully intact cruise missiles — all in unexploded condition.
While US leadership repeatedly claims victory, the reality is the opposite. Several of America’s most advanced weapon technologies have effectively been handed over to Iran for free.
From a military intelligence perspective, unexploded weapons are not just valuable. They are more dangerous than the damage they were meant to cause.
Modern weapons that fail to detonate do not just fail. They expose. They reveal. They break technological monopoly.
This has created a serious strategic dilemma for the United States. The loss caused by exposure of technological secrets is greater than the success achieved in the strike.
For Iran, unexploded weapons are not leftovers. They are a treasure.
Their guidance systems, detonation mechanisms, sensors, and explosive architecture reveal weaknesses. Through reverse engineering, Iran can understand how the weapon is supposed to function — and why it failed.
Even if Iran cannot fully replicate the technology, that knowledge alone is enough.
Iran does not need to use this bomb. It does not need to drop it anywhere. It does not need to copy it fully. It only needs one thing. It needs to defeat it.
By studying the GBU-57, Iran can strengthen the protection of its underground facilities and improve its defensive structures.

United States has been receiving several bad developments in recent times. But this is not just bad news. This is a dangerous and catastrophic development.
America’s most secret and most powerful weapon, the only conventional weapon capable of threatening Iran’s deeply buried nuclear facilities, the bunker buster bomb, has now reportedly been captured by Iran — without a knife, without blood.
How did Iran capture such a weapon?
Can Iran use it anywhere? More importantly,
what can Iran actually do with it?
Reports indicate that Iran has successfully captured more than 15 unexploded precision-guided missiles and bombs. Among them is at least one fully intact GBU-57 bunker buster. This is one of the most powerful non-nuclear weapons in the US arsenal, deployed by the B-2 Spirit stealth bomber under extremely high security.
Because of its importance, B-2 bombers do not operate alone. They fly under protection from other combat aircraft when deploying these weapons. Even then, despite its massive size, a B-2 can carry only two GBU-57 bunker busters at a time.
Even after being deployed under such extreme security, at least one of these bombs has reportedly failed to detonate and ended up in Iranian hands.
If Iran has indeed obtained a fully intact GBU-57, this would become one of the greatest intelligence victories in its history.
Unexploded weapons have reportedly been handed over to Iran’s technical and research divisions for reverse engineering. What was meant to destroy hardened underground targets has now turned into a system that is handing over its own technological secrets to Iran. America’s attack plan itself has now turned into a transfer of its own technology.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guard does not see this as a battlefield leftover. It sees it as a strategic opportunity to strengthen its deterrence and counter-attack capabilities.
There are advantages and disadvantages on both sides. But Iran’s advantages are greater than its disadvantages. For the United States, the disadvantages are greater than its advantages. When everything is added up, this is nothing less than a lottery prize for Iran.
Even if Iran reverse engineers the GBU-57 and produces its own bunker buster, it gains no direct offensive advantage. This weapon is designed to be dropped from very high altitude. Its destructive power depends on the extreme gravitational force and speed gained during its fall, which allows it to penetrate rock and reinforced structures.
Because of its massive weight, it requires heavy strategic bombers to deploy. Iran does not have such aircraft. In fact, only three countries in the world possess them — the United States, Russia, and China. The GBU-57 can effectively be deployed only by the B-2 Spirit.
So Iran cannot use this bomb anywhere as a weapon.
But what it gains from it is far more dangerous for the United States.
Iran has very strong reverse engineering capability. Not equal. Not comparable. In many cases, stronger than several Western countries. This is not imagination. This is already proven.
In 2011, Iran captured the US RQ-170 Sentinel drone. That single capture triggered a major revolution in Iran’s domestic drone program. From that one system, Iran developed platforms such as the Shahed-171 Simorgh and Shahed-191 Saegheh.
This is the proof. Capturing enemy weapons directly accelerates Iran’s military growth.
Now, Iran has not captured just one bunker buster. It has reportedly captured a massive collection of unexploded US weapons, including bunker busters, cluster munitions, cruise missiles, rockets and UAV platforms such as the MQ-9 Reaper. This is not a small gain. This is a massive strategic gain.
The GBU-57 weighs around 30,000 pounds and is specifically designed to destroy deeply buried targets such as Iran’s Fordow and Natanz nuclear facilities.
