It is truly asinine to tell a big city Mayor (or any municipality) they should have no say in a province-wide referendum about whether we should leave the Confederation.
@Michphil1998 If the vast majority of Albertans are against separation, then they are not subverting the will of the people - they are amplifying it.
Even if you disagree with the vast majority, they are representing their electorate.
Kudos @AndrewKnack, @JeromyYYC, and @CindyJefferies
@davidgates57 Of course he is. Everyone is.
But the electorate is entitled to know where he stands on the future of our province in Canada. It's kind of an important detail.
Alberta cabinet minister won't say if he supports keeping province in Canada. Other cabinet members lining up behind Smith's pledge to vote to stay. But Devin Dreeshen avoids answering, @markusoff reports https://t.co/iuGsA1pqYZ

@Melanie54333723 He has a vote on legislation. Albertans have every right to know where he stands because he is one vote of 87 in the legislature, not just the population.
Maybe he's embarrassed or too scared to say since his party is fractured on the subject.
Former Alberta Finance senior manager Lennie Kaplan knows his way around numbers.
And his calulator is painting a fairly dire picture for separation:
-Our economy shrinks by 7.2% in year one
-Personal income drops 6.2%
-Business invesment falls 8%
-Boosts trade costs by 12%

Once people begin to understand the risks of separatism and what all Albertans would stand to lose, support for separation takes a sharp decline.
The old saying of "if it's too good to be true, then it probably is" should be front of mind.

“Let’s be clear. Any UCP MLA waxing poetic about their love of Canada isn’t the same as telling Albertans how they’re going to be voting on Oct. 19,” said @pancholi_rakhi

When the next provincial election happens, remember that it was @ABDanielleSmith who put our province in this position.
And it was the @UCPCaucus that allowed her to get us to this point with no pushback from UCP MLAs.
They cannot be given another term #ableg

Oh boy….
A new ID card sounds “common sense”…but let’s look at what was ALSO announced this month
1. A new ID card that encodes your citizenship status
2. 5 referendum questions d to ration public services by citizenship status
This is potentially VERY bad…🧵
@cspotweet If Albertans fail to renew their health care card, they will lose Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan coverage. As per Bill 11.
That's kind of a big deal.
Without a card, we'll have to pay out-of-pocket and apply to be reimbursed.
