The 9 @GirlsFirstFund partner organisations we supported identified critical leadership challenges affecting their growth, sustainability, governance, resource mobilization, strategic direction & effectiveness then designed &implemented a practical Leadership Challenge Project.
Proud to celebrate 9 @GirlsFirstFund partner organizations in Uganda graduating in a Leadership Development Program.
Over the past 6 months, I supported them as an Organisational Development Consultant under CHAKAM to strengthen leadership, sustainability &resource mobilization.
Oxfam, led by @ShantyFrancis, joined @uwonet & other key stakeholders @Mglsd_UG at the Annual Research Symposium on Unpaid Care and Domestic Work to elevate unpaid care as a national policy and development priority.
#UnpaidCare#WomensRights
Today, #UWONET convened the Annual Research Symposium on #UCDW to elevate unpaid care work as a national policy and development priority through locally grounded evidence and lived experiences.
“Research is transforming narratives, challenging norms, and driving meaningful change on #UCDW,” noted Ms. Rita in her opening remarks.
With support from #OXFAM in Uganda and partnership with the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development, Ugandan-led evidence continues to move #UCDW from the margins into the centre of public policy and development discourse.

Mr. @ShantyFrancis Country Director @OxfaminUganda thanked @uwonet team for the convening & underscored that unpaid care work remains the invisible foundation sustaining communities, families &economies globally, despite being largely undervalued and underinvested in. @RitaAciro
Commissioner @Nakafee51157056 from @Moglsd_UG appreciated @uwonet under leadership of @RitaAciro for strengthening advocacy on Unpaid Care work through national research& evidence generation, noting that evidence-based research is critical in shaping policies & advancing equality
.@RitaAciro, ED uwonet, urged participants to celebrate the collective effort that has built a truly Ugandan body of knowledge on unpaid care work. Together, let us strengthen partnerships, close data gaps, &advance a national learning agenda that centres women’s lived realities.
I had the opportunity to support trainings under @uwonet#GROWProject as Human Rights Specialist in Bukomansimbi &Butambala districts. Key issues emerged: limited GBV reporting pathways, low trust in response systems, restrictions from spouses & negative social norms. @WorldBank
This is a moment to reflect, recommit, &rise. @RitaAciro ED @uwonet urges us to amplify women’s voices, strengthen sisterhood, and build a bold action agenda for gender transformation in Uganda.
“Together, let us rise, unite, and lead the change we want to see.”
“We cannot talk about Uganda’s future without talking about women’s leadership.”
At the National Women’s Leadership Summit, @RitaAciro ED @uwonet welcomed women leaders &allies, honoring the courage of women in the 2026 elections despite the persistent barriers they face.
This week, under the Generating Growth Opportunities for Women Entrepreneurs (GROW) Project @UgGrowproject UWONET, in partnership with our district network organizations is conducting trainings to enhance the capacity of women entrepreneurs.
These are happening in Bukomansimbi, Butambala, Mityana, and Kiboga districts to tackle negative social norms, attitudes, and practices, Gender-Based Violence, financial literacy, among others, as critical pathways to business growth, while pointing to the need for deliberate male engagement. @Moglsd_UG@WorldBank@RitaAciro@PSF_Uganda
