A $70k copper block valued at @ChristiesInc is inscribed in an ENTIRE Bitcoin block 🟫

This copper block is the result of the 10,000 CENTS by
@sovrnart (RUTHERFORD CHANG) smelted and cast into a solid 68-pound copper block.

The Ordinal version of the physical block covers the Bitcoin block #839969.

CENTS explores the concept of value through the copper penny.

Over a century in circulation has rendered this lowly coin so ubiquitous that it is often seen as a worthless nuisance.

However, the United States Treasury states that a penny from any year is always worth exactly 1¢.

Interestingly, those minted in 1982 and earlier are made of copper and now have a metal value of approximately 3.1¢.

Acknowledging these value discrepancies, 10,000 copper pennies were taken out of circulation and meticulously documented.

Though originally created to be interchangeable, history has given each of these metal discs unique characteristics, now preserved as digital artifacts.

Images of these 10,000 pennies are inscribed as ordinals on 10,000 satoshis, the smallest units of Bitcoin, while the physical coins are melted down and cast into a solid 68-pound copper block.

This copper block is then converted into a three-dimensional digital model and inscribed as a 4-megabyte ordinal, encompassing the entirety of Bitcoin block #839969.

Just as casting a copper ingot so dense and heavy makes it indestructible, inscribing this data on the blockchain creates an immutable digital monument.

As the traditional penny becomes obsolete and its production ceases, its value can be redefined through this unique digital set of 10,000 and the block that encapsulates their transformation.
