Men think women's greatest fear is ending up alone.
No. There’s nothing scarier than ending up trapped, married to a man who drains your energy, steals your labor, kills your ambition, and calls it love.

If state attorneys are unhappy with their pay grade they should just quit and enter private practice. Nowhere in the world are public servants paid on par with or more than the private sector. Can’t be using taxpayers fund to pay rent and spending all day setting up a business.
All through my judicial career I have never seen such an organized multi-court joint statement made by judicial staff. By wearing black, they have expressed dissatisfaction with the recent changes to the pay structure, while at the same time ensuring that it was peaceful and not disruptive.
It is never easy on a public servant to express dissatisfaction publicly; it generally happens when all other avenues have been exhausted and frustration boils over. I hope their concerns will be heard and addressed in good faith.
The value of judicial staff was neatly summarized by Justice Bharati Dangre, with whom I agree, in the recent, Writ Petition No. 396 OF 2024, held at High Court of Bombay at Goa. In her judgement, she wrote “we are of the considered view that for proper and effective functioning of the Courts, it is necessary to have the support of the staff, and which rather constitutes the backbone of the Courts’ functioning and discharging its solemn obligation of dispensation of justice and this staff is also entitled for an appropriate working environment, so as to increase their efficiency and output, which ultimately is going to be beneficial for the administration of justice itself”
The staff of the judiciary are the backbone of the institution. Rather than limit their OT just reduce the salaries of judges. They are not appointed on merit and have no discretion to rule on the basis of facts the law. Why are we overpaying them?
Maldives parliament enacted a new Trademark Act and has been ratified into law on 11 November 2025.
Here is a summary of the Maldives Trademark Act (19-2025)
Introduction and Objectives
The Trademark Act establishes a system for the protection and safeguarding of trademarks and related rights in the Maldives.
The law aims to create a favourable environment for producers and artisans by establishing a trademark registration system, specifying the scope of rights for registered and unregistered trademarks, and determining procedures for action against violators.
Trademark Definition and Rights
A trademark is defined as any sign capable of distinguishing the goods or services of one party from another, including personal names, letters, numbers, figurative elements, and colour combinations.
The owner of a registered trademark can prevent unauthorised use of identical or similar signs that may cause confusion.
Registration Process
Applications for trademark registration must be filed with the Registrar of Intellectual Property, including specific information and documentation.
Priority rights can be claimed based on prior applications in foreign countries or display at exhibitions.
Examination and Opposition
The Registrar examines applications to ensure they meet filing requirements and conditions for claiming priority.
Applications are published, and opposition can be filed within three months, with the Registrar facilitating responses and hearings.
Grounds for Refusal
Absolute grounds for refusal include lack of distinctiveness, generic marks, and signs contrary to public morality.
Relative grounds for refusal involve conflicts with existing trademarks or well-known marks, and bad faith applications.
Registration Duration and Renewal
Trademark registration lasts for ten years, with the possibility of renewal for additional ten-year periods.
Transfer and Licensing
Changes in ownership and licensing of trademarks must be recorded and published by the Registrar to affect third-party rights.
Certification and Collective Marks
Certification marks indicate goods or services certified by the mark owner, while collective marks belong to associations distinguishing members' goods or services.
Enforcement and Remedies
Infringement of trademark rights includes unauthorised use of identical or similar signs, with civil remedies available through the courts.
Courts can order interim measures, compensation for losses, and destruction of infringing goods.
Customs and Imported Goods
Trademark owners can request Customs to detain goods suspected of infringing trademark rights, with specific procedures for application and detention.
Criminal Offences and Penalties
Counterfeiting marks and dealing with counterfeit goods are offences, with penalties including fines and confiscation of goods.
Transitional Provisions
Trademarks registered before the Act must be re-registered within 12 months of the law's commencement.
