This Argentina team keeps proving that Messi’s 2026 World Cup campaign wasn’t as extraordinary as people make it sound.

Argentina had a world-class squad. The players were running, fighting and covering for Messi because they knew he couldn’t cover the ground like he once could. The entire system was built around maximising his strengths.

Messi obviously had quality, but when the whole team is structured around you and elite players are doing the running, carrying the defensive workload and creating space for you, it becomes easier to produce.

Now that Messi is approaching retirement, I think we’re going to realise that Argentina were capable of doing many of these things with or without him.

The team was special. Messi was just the focal point.

The moment Messi retired from the Argentina national team, something strange happened.

The players suddenly looked free. They stopped playing like their entire job was to find Messi, assist Messi, or get Messi to score. They started playing for themselves again.

Imagine what happened in the World Cup final. The players were not just free. They just wanted Messi to score, and that’s why Spain took advantage of the whole situation.

But since Messi left, the team has been doing so well. 4-0 against Bolivia, 7-0 against Burkina Faso.

Even at Inter Miami, the moment Messi came back, they all forgot how to win games because they want to play for Messi. They’re not free anymore. Two wins in 12 games is diabolical.

Messi has always been the problem.

The earlier Inter Miami realize the truth and throw him out of the club, the better for them.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🗣 Paul Scholes on Messi fans:

"I don't see Cristiano fans focusing on Messi. What I do see is that many Messi fans follow everything Ronaldo does very closely."

ronaldo man, what a guy. he has turned ‘barca worldwide’ to bruno fernandes fan page

Es duro que el último recuerdo de Leo Messi en su selección sea este.

Luka Modrić team lost 7–0, and I haven’t seen a single tweet of people saying he’s holding Croatia back. Or is it because his name is not Ronaldo?

Menudos sinvergüenzas usando el fallecimiento del padre para haceros sentir culpables de lo que visteis con vuestro propios ojos en el mundial, mezclar cosas, os estáis luciendo los fans de Messi.

We were against Argentina’s corruption and the special treatment they received. Nobody mocked Messi’s personal life.

If spain wins today, we cook Messi for losing a final to 19 years old boy

If Argentina wins, we cook Yamal for losing back to back finals against two old men

Win win😂🔥

When the ballon dor was 4-1, Cristiano Ronaldo was my Goat.
