@Sw8t_Chingy@hasanthehun@WajahatAli UBL was fine with the US “intervening” in Afghanistan. The only “intervention” between then and 9/11 was the Balkans (and at the same time the U.S. was faulted for not intervening in Rwanda). As a matter logic, American interventionism” seems an inadequate explanation for 9/11.
@Sw8t_Chingy@hasanthehun@WajahatAli …was the intervention in the Balkans. At the same time America was faulted for not intervening in Rwanda.
To think 9/11 was the result of American interventionism reflects a lack of intellectual rigor.
@Sw8t_Chingy@hasanthehun@WajahatAli I don’t know what you mean by “blowback “ but know I don’t think America should be able to bomb anyone anyone anywhere.
UBL worked with America through the early 90s. The only intervention that happened after he stopped working with America…
@Sw8t_Chingy@hasanthehun@WajahatAli Just so we’re clear: I’m saying “I used ‘poor language’ but still believing 9/11 was the result of “American interventionism’” reflects a lack of intellectual rigor. Happy to be corrected (in fact *please* do) if I’ve misunderstood his position.
@hasanthehun@WajahatAli Tbf, it’s bigoted to frame you as a favoring terrorism. But I think your comments about 9/11 reflect emotional immaturity and a lack of intellectual rigor that manifests in other areas of policy which makes me question politicians that affiliate with you (like @NYCMayor )
@hasanthehun@WajahatAli Anyone can say “sorry.”
Have you explained your original thinking? What you think now? Why your thinking changed? How this reflection has changed you going forward?
Because that’s what an apology looks like for emotionally mature people.
@dieworkwear Dense walkable mixed use neighborhoods are the low tech omni-solution to affordability, cutting carbon, obesity, the mental health crisis, and the fertility crisis.
If we think about it long enough, I’m sure they can solve the Middle East crisis as well.
@TaraServatius He was commenting on the fact, not his power to do so. And also, what is the source for the statement: “At the same time, in the same diary, he wrote that covid wasn't any more deadly than the seasonal flu.” That seems much more important than what you’ve posted
@bethanyshondark Loving learning is everything. For me it came at 16. For some it comes earlier; others later. Education needs to be about teaching a love of learning. I spend my Friday afternoons just reading (on issues related to my field) because I love it. My colleagues think I’m annoying.
@jmz954@mtaibbi And a separate question is what’s *admissible* in court.
Anyone who isn’t a trial lawyer is just making it up on this site.
Anyone who *is* a trial lawyer knows judges can be unpredictable when it comes to hearsay and they have a lot of discretion. 4/x
