🇮🇹🗞️| RadioTAORMINA - Interview with #CanYaman in Taormina - PART 1
“Study, get ready and then chase your dreams". The actor talks about #Sandokan and his professional turn.
From the law to acting, the protagonist of the new event series tells himself: "Being prepared is a superpower. Sandokan taught me to never stop smiling even in the battles of life".
TAORMINA - Acclaimed by hundreds of fans and welcomed by overwhelming enthusiasm, Can Yaman is among the most anticipated protagonists of the 72ª edition of the Taormina Film Fest. He talked about his personal and professional career, focussing on the long work that led him to play Sandokan, the event series presented right in the city of the Centaur with the preview of the first two episodes.
Between applause, curiosities and questions also coming from the jury of the youth of the festival, Yaman retraced the stages of his career, revealing lesser-known aspects of his life and sending a clear message to the new generations: investing in training is the key to building one's future.
From jurisprudence to the set: when he realised that his path was another:
Not everyone knows that before becoming one of the most popular actors on the international scene, Can Yaman graduated in law. A path undertaken with conviction and supported above all by the mother, who has always attributed great value to study and training. The actor explained how his passion for reading and studying has accompanied all his adolescence and university years. To change the perspective, however, was the comparison with the world of work.
"I really liked the theory - he points out - I liked studying, but when I started working I realised that the practice was different from what I imagined. I felt full of energy and couldn't see myself sitting behind a desk. I realised that I needed an environment more suitable for my character".
Not a matter of ability or preparation, but of personal inclination. Yaman said that he realised that the legal profession did not correspond to his nature and that he decided, therefore, to look for a different path. A choice that today does not deny at all, so much so that soon he will play a lawyer in a new television production, of which, however, he has not yet been able to reveal the title for contractual reasons.
The advice to young people: "First build the foundations"
The most applauded intervention came when the actor addressed the young people present in the theatre directly. Yaman recalled how his mother pushed him since he was a child to study foreign languages and to build solid skills. First the American school, then the Italian scientific high school in Istanbul and finally the university studies in law.
His initial dream was to become an international lawyer specialising in maritime law and contracts. Only after completing that path did he decide to follow other passions. "First do what you have to do, study, prepare yourself well and then choose what you want to become. When you have a solid preparation you can start from scratch anywhere". For Can Yaman, this very ability represents the real "superpower": feeling ready to face new challenges, new countries and new professions without fear of starting over.
Four languages and an international career:
During the meeting, we also talked about his extraordinary linguistic ability. The actor specified that he was fluent in Turkish, Italian, English and Spanish. Over time he also studied French, German and Russian, languages that he no longer uses habitually. The Spanish, on the other hand, has returned to the centre thanks to a recent professional project filmed in Spain. A skill that has allowed him to continuously expand his range of action and to work in different international contexts.
