@WillHitchUVA Are you actually comparing the the state of affairs of summer 1953 with the summer of 2018? '53 only 8 years after Roosevelt gave Stalin Eastern Europe at the Yalta (Crimea) Conference. Do you take your followers for fools? In economic terms the EU can be rightly judged a foe.
