#Guatemala: As part of @TrialWatch, we are in the room monitoring the start of Jose Ruben Zamora's trial, an award-winning journalist who has been detained since July 2022. @ChepeZamora https://t.co/CsBHSCzOFm

#ZamoraLibre
>>@OJGuatemala can deliver justice this Friday, October 18. My father, journalist #JoseRubénZamora, after 800 days of arbitrary detention, should be set free. Pretrial detention cannot continue to be applied as an early punishment for a crime he did not commit. #ZamoraLibre
Our #TrialWatch report found that Guatemalan authorities violated Zamora's right to be free from inhuman and degrading treatment. He should be immediately released. https://t.co/CzT7o8S3xX
“My father has been arbitrarily detained for over 700 days, facing inhumane treatment documented by an independent expert. Despite this, Guatemalan authorities refuse to release him and drop the spurious charges.
Our international legal team has filed an urgent appeal with the UN Special Rapporteur on Torture (@DrAliceJEdwards) to protect my father and secure his release. The world is watching – Guatemala must end this political persecution and release him.” https://t.co/rxcn0uX0Ba
@chr_aba documented the abusive reach of the EIT law in #Indonesia against journalists and social media users alike. Read our report: https://t.co/6uHlpfGlaZ
In a submission they made to the UN Human Rights Committee earlier this year, TrialWatch and @ICJRid called on #Indonesia to cease abusive prosecutions under its Law on Electronic Information and Transactions (EIT Law).

@CIDH We and many other rights organizations have criticized the trial proceedings against Zamora for multiple rights violations, including failure to guarantee due process and harassment and bringing criminal charges against a series of defense lawyers.

Today a team of lawyers from the Vance Center and law firms King & Spalding and Colombara Estrategia Legal submitted a petition to the @CIDH outlining ongoing violations of the rights of imprisoned Guatemalan journalist José Rubén Zamora Marroquín.

It means a lot to me and my family. A seguir con mas y mejor periodismo 😍💪

Our new report highlights the abusive reach of a cybercrime law in #Indonesia, which violates international standards of the right to freedom of expression.
A notorious cybercrime law in #Indonesia that has been through multiple iterations seriously endangers the right to freedom of expression. A new report from @TrialWatch and @chr_aba shows how it has been weaponized against journalists and others: https://t.co/3XFlU1phlw
Last October, @OBS_defenders said that Hernandez' health was deteriorating in maximum-security prison where a lack of potable water and adequate medical care had been reported. UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights Defenders @MaryLawlorhrds called for her release that same month.
Last year, a court in #Mexico reduced Hernandez’s sentence to nine years and five months, down from more than 11 years. @TrialWatch had monitored her trial through our partners @chr_aba, finding it “riddled with irregularities” and assigning it a D grade. https://t.co/EvV1RFmh5S
