Over the weekend, I was honored to officiate at the grand finale of the IBASCO League Season 3.

The IBASCO League is an Old Boys’ initiative aimed at fostering unity, networking, and talent development among former students. Hosted at Time Out Leisure Park, Mbalwa, the league has steadily grown into a strong platform for both social and professional connection.

This season, which kicked off in September 2025, brought together 12 teams spanning generations—from the Class of 2005 to the youngest cohort that joined university in August 2025. Beyond sport, the league has evolved into a platform for impact by: • Strengthening Old Boys’ networks and social capital
• Creating access to job and internship opportunities through shared connections
• Promoting the IBASCO brand and enhancing the school’s visibility and reputation
• Building partnerships with other leagues for collaboration and growth

This year’s activities also extended into community engagement, including a charity outreach to elderly nuns in Ibanda, a blood donation drive, donation of textbooks to the school library, and recognition of former teachers and contributors.

I extend my sincere appreciation to the League President, Mr. Alex Tumusiime, for his outstanding mobilization efforts and for encouraging Old Boys to actively participate in this noble cause. I also thank the Headteacher, Brother Agaba, for his commendable leadership, reflected in the school’s improved academic performance and discipline.

I challenged fellow Old Boys to remain committed to building and supporting their alma mater.

I further emphasized the importance of sports in promoting teamwork, cooperation, resilience, agility, discipline, mental well-being, and strengthening bonds across generations while building lasting social capital.

The IBASCO League continues to stand out as a unifying platform that blends sport, mentorship, and community impact. With continued support and guidance, it is poised to achieve even greater milestones.
