EFCC Freezes Osun Govt Account, Cites Reasons
The EFCC says it froze the Osun State government’s account to stop alleged looting of public funds during an ongoing investigation into N11 billion.
In a statement on Tuesday, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale said the Commission has been probing the state since March 2026 over alleged mismanagement of Ecology Funds, Intervention Funds and FAAC allocations.
He said a "Post No Debit" order was placed after the Commission detected suspicious transfers from state accounts to corporate entities from August 2.
Oyewale stated the action was not politically motivated despite the upcoming governorship election, adding that the EFCC is also monitoring other states.
He urged the public to disregard “false narratives” against the Commission.

Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement, North West, Abdullahi Tanko Yakasai, says President Bola Tinubu has fulfilled his campaign promise with the flag-off of the reconstruction of the 122-kilometre Kaduna–Mando���Birnin Gwari Road.
Yakasai disclosed this on Monday, August 4, 2026, during the groundbreaking ceremony led by the Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, CON, alongside members of the Presidential Community Engagement Team.
He said the road, abandoned for over three decades, connects Kaduna and Birnin Gwari to Mokwa in Niger State. Contractors have already mobilized to the site.
According to Yakasai, the project will reduce travel time from 7 hours to 2 hours and serve as a strategic corridor to boost commerce, agriculture, food security, and security in the region.

Tinubu Approves ₦46.39BN For Rehabilitation Of Kano Airport ,Taxiway Upgrade

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved ₦46.39 billion for the rehabilitation of runways and taxiways at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, MAKIA.
The project includes Category II airfield lighting to enable safer operations in poor weather conditions.
According to the Federal Government, the 24-week reconstruction will improve safety, reduce flight delays, and increase airport capacity.
The Kano upgrade is part of the Renewed Hope Agenda’s aviation infrastructure programme, which also covers Lagos and Port Harcourt airports.

The ongoing construction of the Hadejia Road through Danzaki–Zaura–Daura, the Northern Bypass in Kano State, is progressing steadily under the Renewed Hope Administration through the Honourable Minister of Works, Engr. David Nweze Umahi, CON.
In addition, the construction of the biggest flyover in the state is also rapidly ongoing at the Northern Bypass.
This was today, Wednesday, 5th August, 2026. I joined the Engineer to inspect the projects, and we observed that work is progressing smoothly.

2027: City Boy Movement Inaugurates Strategic Committee for Tinubu’s Re-Election Bid

The City Boy Movement on Monday inaugurated its National Strategic Outreach and Integration Committee to drive nationwide mobilisation for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election.
The inauguration was held at the City Boy Campaign Office in Abuja and presided over by Abdullahi Tanko Yakasai, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement, North West,who serves as chairman of the committee and Deputy Director-General, Internal Governance & Engagement.
Yakasai charged members to focus on strengthening party relationships, expanding grassroots participation, and broadening the Movement’s coalition.
He said the committee’s mandate covers engagement with stakeholders, youth groups, women, professionals, creatives, and other key constituencies across the country.
To fast-track action, the committee set up a four-member Technical Committee to develop an operational framework for presentation at its next meeting within 72 hours.
The move, according to the Movement, reflects its commitment to strengthening organisational capacity and building broader support for the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda ahead of the 2027 general elections.

FG Flags Off 122km Kaduna–Birnin Gwari Road Reconstruction

The Federal Government on Tuesday flagged off the reconstruction of the 122-kilometre Kaduna–Birnin Gwari Road in Afaka, Kaduna State.
Minister of Works, Sen. Engr. David Umahi, led the federal delegation for the groundbreaking, hosted by Governor Uba Sani.
Also present were Deputy Governor Dr. Hadiza Balarabe, Ministers Bello Goronyo, Balarabe Abbas Lawal, and Muttaqha Darma, Presidential Aide Ibrahim Masari, and other dignitaries.
Governor Sani recalled that President Bola Tinubu approved ₦178.12 billion for the project, with over ₦100 billion already disbursed to commence work.
Minister Umahi will oversee technical execution.
The road, running from Mando to Birnin Gwari, will be constructed with Continuously Reinforced Concrete Pavement (CRCP) — a durable standard designed to last up to 100 years.
It links the isolated corridor to the wider Kaduna–Lagos highway network.
Governor Sani said the project reflects improved security in the area.
Markets closed for over a decade are reopening, farmlands are being cultivated again, and work is ongoing on another 36km Bagoma–Gagumi road.

No Policy To Increase Electricity Tariff, Says Power Minister Tegbe, Reaffirms Reliable Power
The Federal Government has ruled out any plan to increase electricity tariffs, saying its immediate priority is service improvement and not higher bills.
The Minister of Power, Joseph Tegbe, disclosed this in a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
According to Tegbe, the administration is focused on universal metering, ensuring Nigerians pay only for the electricity they consume, and improving overall service delivery.
“The Federal Government will also continue to examine additional mechanisms for protecting vulnerable consumers, whilst simultaneously improving the financial sustainability of the market,” he said.
Tegbe noted that resetting the power sector is about execution, discipline, coordination, and measurable outcomes that impact the daily lives of Nigerians.
“Our ambition is clear. Reliable electricity that powers our homes. Competitive electricity that powers our industries. Sustainable electricity that attracts investment. Inclusive electricity that reaches every Nigerian,” he added.

BENUE: Wurukum Flyover Hits 65% Completion As Parapets Are Ready For Installation

The Wurukum Flyover in Makurdi, Benue State, being delivered under the Renewed Hope administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu through the Honourable Minister of Works, Engr. David Nweze Umahi, CON, has reached a major milestone with construction now at 65 per cent completion.
Engineers on the project confirmed that all reinforced concrete parapets required for the bridge have been fully precast and are awaiting installation from the casting yard at Mase.
The flyover is part of Section One of the Makurdi–Otukpo–9th Mile Dualization Project, a key federal road project designed to improve connectivity, ease traffic congestion, and boost economic activities in Benue State and the South East corridor.
Project officials said work is progressing steadily in line with specifications, and installation of the parapets will commence shortly.

First Lady Oluremi Tinubu Seeks Saudi Partnership To Reform Almajiri Education System
Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, has appealed to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for support in reforming the Almajiri education system to address the challenge of out-of-school children.
She made the appeal on Thursday during an audience with the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Nigeria, Yousef Bin Muhammed Albalawi, at her office in the State House.
The First Lady said reforming the current Almajiri system is critical to securing Nigeria’s future, noting that many children in the system are exposed to hunger and exploitation.
Ambassador Albalawi, who assumed duty in Nigeria five months ago, said he is committed to deepening bilateral relations between the two oil-producing nations.
